TV news network "Al-Jazeera" will air a documentary tonight that has been filmed entirely with an iPhone. The documentary was filmed by an undercover journalist using just an iPhone as the use of a large camera would have been a major security risk. The documentary called "Syria: Songs of Defiance" follows an anonymous journalist on a journey amongst the uprising in Syria.
I can't tell you my name. I've spent many months secretly in Syria for Al Jazeera. I cannot show my face and my voice is disguised to conceal my identity, because I don't want to endanger my contacts in Syria. Because carrying a camera would be risky, I took my cell phone with me as I moved around the country and captured images from the uprising that have so far remained unseen.
The model of iPhone has not been revealed although we would have to assume that it would be at least an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. These models do have incredible optics and can produce some excellent quality video. The fact that a journalist can now use a device as small and portable as an iPhone to shoot broadcast quality video is highly impressive!

Apple has just announced its line up for the annual iTunes Festival. The event which first started in 2007 has been hugely popular as all of the tickets are given away free of charge. The live concerts all take place at London's The Roundhouse and it all kicks off on September 1st and goes on until September 30th.
Every year since 2007, the iTunes Festival has been bringing you a full month of spectacular live music. Many of the world's biggest stars and the brightest newcomers have graced the festival stage, and this year's brilliant line-up includes jack White, One Direction, Norah Jones and more. It will all take place in September 2012 at one of the UK's best live music venues-the Roundhouse in London.
So far Apple has confirmed performances by Usher, Emeli Sand'e, Jack White, Norah Jones and every teenage girls dream, One Direction. There will be many more artists to come over the next couple of months so this is certain to be a popular event. Even better the tickets are always free. If you want them just simply apply for them through the app or online. Apple is also running a competition to win a Festival Pass which gives you access to every concert during the festival.

If you can't make the live shows, you can enjoy all the action live on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch via the iTunes Festival app, as well as on your Mac or PC. The iOS app even supports AirPlay; enabling you to stream the action straight to your Apple TV. Unfortunately, it looks like being exclusively for UK based users as the app is only available in the UK App Store.

Mobile Device Expect To Buy The New iPad

You have to hand it to Apple. The company is a master when it comes to building up anticipation in advance of a new product or even a product refresh -- as was the case with last year's iPhone 4s. It's no wonder, then, that things had built up to a fever pitch ahead of yesterday's unveiling of the new Apple iPad -- yes, just iPad, not the iPad 3 or iPad HD as just about everyone had expected. One pre-launch survey said that nearly a third of users who own a mobile device expect to buy the new iPad. Other research reported that 42 percent of current iPad owners planed to upgrade to the latest version. Certainly, the new iPad packs in a bunch of technical upgrades, some pretty major. However will it be enough to sustain the pre-launch enthusiasm? That's an open question, but given Apple's track record, I wouldn't bet against it.

iPhone Why Is Rim Hiring iOS App Developers

First, Research In Motion opened its highly secure Enterprise servers to Apple's iPhone. Then it unveiled enterprise device-management software for it, called BlackBerry Mobile Fusion.

And now it appears that the company plans to build apps for the iPhone, as well.

A March 20 RIM job posting shows the company seeking a Senior iOS Mobile Developer to build enterprise applications; specifically, "an experienced iOS/Objective-C developer capable of architecting, designing, developing and testing complex applications for iPhone and iPad devices."

Among the job requirements: At least two years of professional experience in writing iOS apps, and the ability to show off a few of them in the iTunes App Store at the time of the candidate's interview.

What does RIM want with its own iOS developers? That's not clear, and the company has not responded to requests for comment; it is in the quiet period prior to reporting earnings next week. Perhaps it has something to do with RIM's BlackBerry Mobile Fusion effort, though presumably that wouldn't require app developers. That said, given the consumerization of IT and RIM's efforts to hold on to enterprise clients that might be slowly slipping away from it, having a BB Fusion app in the App Store might be a wise idea.

Another theory: The company is indeed working on bringing its popular BlackBerry Messenger service to iOS, as has been rumored before.
