Some 80 Percent Of The Apple Tablets Are Used Only With Wi-fi

Some 80 Percent Of The Apple Tablets Are Used Only With Wi-fi Image
As he has proved with Kazaa, Skype and other projects, Niklas Zennstrom likes shaking things up.

His latest venture, FreedomPop, continues in that tradition. Due to launch later this year, the service will offer users a variety of options to get mobile data for their phones, tablets and laptops, at little or no cost.

FreedomPop isn't building a network of its own, but rather buying from wholesale provider Clearwire, among others.

The way FreedomPop sees things, cellular service is already becoming a commodity -- so why not push things along a little faster? Its plan is to give away mobile broadband and look to make money in other ways, through a variety of other services. The company, he said, is modeled more on Internet ventures such as Dropbox and Zynga than on the carriers with which it competes.

"We call ourselves a Webco versus a telco," FreedomPop Marketing VP Tony Miller told ALLTHINGSD. "We're trying to build something more interesting."

Miller says FreedomPop has quietly tested more than 100 services under another name, winnowing down to seven or eight paid services that it plans to offer at launch.

FreedomPop will offer customers at least three options for connecting to its service at launch -- a USB connector for laptops, a mobile hotspot, and a case for the iPhone that both connects the phone with data and acts as a hotspot for other devices. The company also wants to build a case for the iPad, noting that some 80 percent of the Apple tablets are used only with Wi-Fi, creating a big opportunity.

In its basic plan, FreedomPop will give users at least 1GB of data for free, charging about 10 for each additional gigabyte. Other plans will offer more data for rates well below those typically charged by the major carriers.

"We're commoditizing it even further," Miller said.

There's a heavy social component to what FreedomPop is doing, Miller said. Users will be able to pool their data, with those who have megabytes to spare able to share them with friends in need. Customers will also get additional data to use by bringing along their friends, and friends will be able to see each other's location and presence data.

Although it has started sharing a few details, FreedomPop is staying mum on a lot of issues, including how many employees it has, its list of investors beyond Zennstrom, and many of the details about its service and partners.

In addition to Clearwire, Miller said FreedomPop has a deal with another major carrier, though he declined to name that company. FreedomPop also once had a deal with LightSquared, the company whose plans to build a 4G wholesale service stalled amid concerns about GPS interference.

Despite its apparent failing, LightSquared managed to push the industry toward lower wholesale prices, something that paved the way for FreedomPop to offer its service.

"Just 12 months ago, our model didn't work," he said.

Whether or not FreedomPop ever makes a penny, its business model is likely to put pressure on the existing wireless carriers, who have been trying to find ways to increase prices and add new limits in an effort to pay for expensive upgrades to 4G networks.

Skype, Miller said, was originally designed be part of a bigger free broadband service, but the calling program itself proved to be so popular that the company ended up focusing on that. Zennstrom and his team later sold Skype to eBay, and he then joined a group that reacquired the firm, before again selling the company last year to Microsoft.

As for when to expect FreedomPop to begin its service, the company is only committing to "sometime this year." I'm hearing it could be early in the third quarter.

Using Smime On Ios Devices

Using Smime On Ios Devices Image
I've recently written a blog post on using S/MIME with iOS devices. I've found that settings things up isn't entirely straight-forward so I've documented what I needed to do to make it work.

The article explains how to set up your iPhone or iPad to send and receive encrypted emails via S/MIME. The prerequisite is an S/MIME certificate from a certificate authority. Some CAs provide them free for personal use. The procedure is not very complicated even though the description may look lengthy due to the many screenshots. The biggest hurdle is to pick the correct file format when exporting your S/MIME key on your Mac.

The key is to export the certificate in Personal Information Exchange (.p12) format. These can then be imported to iOS.

iPhone iOS Application Icon Naming Conventions

iPhone iOS Application Icon Naming Conventions Image
A short reminder on how to name your iPhone / iPad app icons properly. Sure, you can always specify those names specificy in the application info.plist. But why not chose CONVENTION OVER CONFIGURATION to make life easier

ICON.PNG (required)

# 57x57px... standard iPhone icon

ICON@2X.PNG (required)

# 114x114px... retina display iPhone icon

ICON-72.PNG (required)

# 72x72px... standard iPad icon

ICON-SMALL.PNG (recommended)

# 29x29px... standard iPhone Spotlight search icon

ICON-SMALL@2X.PNG (recommended)

# 58x58px... retina display iPhone Spotlight search icon

ICON-SMALL-50.PNG (recommended)

# 50x50px... standard iPad Spotlight search icon

Just drag the files into the "Supporting Files folder" within Xcode and allow Xcode to copy the files into the proper directory of your app.

If you also want to adhoc distribute your app - like, in beta testing - you should also include the following iTunesArtwork-file in your source. If you want it to render with the shiny Apple effects in iTunes you need to provide a JPEG file, if it should be rendered untouched just use a PNG. The iTunesArtwork file MUST NOT have a file extention:

ITUNESARTWORK

# 512x521px... iTunes icon used with adhoc distributions

And don't forget to exclude the file in your iTunes-Connect distributions to the AppStore. There you upload the PNG file separately within the upload process in iTunesConnect!

Hope this saves some time

New iPad Lte And Hspa+ Speed Tests Lte Is A Powerhouse

New iPad Lte And Hspa+ Speed Tests Lte Is A Powerhouse Image
The new iPad brings with it the option for a new, dual radio that brings with it 72Mbps LTE on AT&T and Verizon in the US and Rogers, Telus, and Bell in Canada. Sadly, there's no international LTE support for Australia, Asia, or Europe yet, perhaps due to the differences in LTE segments around the world. However, the new iPad also brings a new 42Mbps HSPA+ radio for AT&T, Canadian, and international carriers that support it. (Technically dual 21Mbps HSPA+ radios.) Those are theoretical speeds though -- what you get in a lab when alone, sitting on top of a tower. In the real world we're often lucky to see half the theoretical speeds, and often considerably less. That's why we put them to the test.

NEW IPAD LTE AND HSPA+ SPEED TESTS

LTE is a powerhouse, likely faster than many home broadband connections. HSPA+ is no slouch either when it comes to downloads, though uploads are disappointing.

I took the new iPad out to a local coffee shop to see what type of real-world results I could get. The first thing I did was load up the SpeedTest.net app [free - Download now] app and run it 3 times on LTE to make sure I was getting consistent results. I've gotten close to 50Mbps before, both with an LTE stick and with the new iPad on launch day, but these tests had me hitting almost 30Mbps down and over 10Mbps up consistently. (On 2 bars of LTE, for whatever that's worth.)

You can quickly turn off LTE with a flip of a toggle switch in Settings, and the handoff is extremely smooth and quick -- the LTE indicator goes off and the 3G (or 4G on AT&T sigh) comes on. I repeated the same test 3 times, and averaged around 15Mbps down and 0.75Mbps up. I've only ever gotten between 5 and 8Mbps down on the iPad 2 or iPhone 4S, so that new HSPA+ down (HSPDA) really is much faster. The upload speed really wasn't great though. (On 4 bars of HSPA+.)

Now switching back from HSPA+ to LTE has proven to be a problem for me. I don't know if it's because I have really strong 3G and really weak LTE, so once the radio gets a taste of that stronger signal it won't let go, but even if I cycle LTE on and off, cellular data on and off, or Airplane Mode off or on, LTE just won't come back. All I can do is wait for a while (several minutes) for it to "find" LTE again, or power cycle and get it back after reboot.

(If you've tested the LTE to HSPA+ handoff, share your experience, so we can better figure it out.)

NEW IPAD LTE AND HSPA+ HD VIDEO TEST

After the reboot, I put the LTE radio to a more real-world test -- streaming the "Avengers" movie trailer in HD. (I could have gone with "Prometheus" but "Avengers" had a Hulk) It worked flawlessly. The trailer began to play almost immediately and never once stopped or stuttered. The download indicator stayed well ahead of the play indicator the whole time. It was as good as being on Wi-Fi. Fast Wi-Fi.

HSPA+ didn't do nearly as well. The trailer started playing almost immediately but also came to a screeching halt almost immediately as well. The download indicator limped ahead, but at no time did it race the way LTE did.

Apple might send lower resolution or lower bit-rate video to slower connections, so I'm not sure HSPA+ was even taking the same load, but either way, it wasn't up to the task.

Like the previous tests, I repeated each 3 times for consistency, and also drove around and tried them in several other locations, though I haven't gotten more than 2 bars of LTE, and in some places I haven't been able to connect to LTE at all.

CONCLUSION

Overall, however, both the new LTE and the new HSPA+ antennas in the new iPad are impressive, the LTE most of all. If always connected, on-the-go internet is important to you, and you live, work, and travel to places with LTE coverage, you want this.

ADDENDA FOR VERIZON LTE

Something to keep in mind for those considering the new iPad on Verizon LTE -- while the AT&T and Canadian LTE models fall back on the impressive (for downloads at least) HSPA+, the Verizon model falls back on the anemic EVDO Rev. A, which averages 2 or 3Mbps. I wouldn't even attempt to play an HD trailer over that. I'd wait to get back to Wi-Fi. It would probably take less time.

iPhone Infographic Apple The Fruit Vs The Products

iPhone Infographic Apple The Fruit Vs The Products Image
Infographics are amazing and so is this one. This one is basically about Apple (the fruit) vs Apple (as in the iPhone). I know this is weird comparison and doesn't make much sense but to some real Apple (the company) fans it makes all the sense in the world. The designer has the following story to tell:

Every now and then, my crazy family inspires something great, like this infographic. I had a twenty minute conversation over Christmas where I was trying to make it clear I meant Apple (as in the iPhone) and not apple (as in the fruit). I am not sure I was successful. However, it gave me the idea for this great graphic. Take a look at how the ones we talk on measure up to the ones we eat (and see it in all its glory here).

Unyousual 3d Concierge Backplate For iPhone Preview

Unyousual 3d Concierge Backplate For iPhone Preview Image
Back in December I reviewed, and fell in love with, a custom backplate mod for iPhone from unYOUsual.com. Turns out they were just getting started, though. They've now sent me something extra-dimensionally sweet to look at as a follow up -- a prototype 3D Concierge. Using 7 different layers of carefully crafted, hands-on printing, unYOUusal is able to create something really amazing looking with the 3D Concierge.

Like with the standard UnYOUusual backplate, you get to pick your own custom image for the 3D Concierge. It just gets rendered with a way cooler effect than the standard glass backplate. Because it's 3D, it probably suits higher contrast images so the different shades bring about more texture and elevation.

Now, if you're worried about swapping backplates, don't be. While you should never do anything with your iPhone that makes you feel nervous or uncomfortable, swapping backplates is just about the easiest modification (mod) you can do.

The 3D Concierge compared to the standard custom backplate.

THE GOOD

* Incredible looking

* Easy mod to perform

* Customizable for unique look

THE BAD

* Though an easy mod, it's still a mod

* Not available for order yet (coming soon!)

THE CONCLUSION

Since Apple didn't change the design of the iPhone with the iPhone 4S, it can be hard to stand out from the crowd and show off your own individual style. Cases can provide some options but not everyone wants to cover up the stainless steel and glass of naked iPhone. Swapping the backplate lets you get the styling of a case while keeping the feel of staying naked. Having it customizable -- and in 3D! -- is just the most awesome icing on the cake.

The unYOUsual 3D Concierge Backplate for iPhone should be available soon from unYOUsual.com. We'll keep you updated!

iPhone Dev Team New Blog Post Ultratips

iPhone Dev Team New Blog Post Ultratips Image
The iPhone Dev Team has updated their blog with a post that gives Ultrasn0w users tips on how to fix any problems that some users are having.

"It looks like version 0.9 of ultrasn0w fixed up the vast majority of any problems people were seeing with the 3G/3GS carrier unlock. But here's a brief list of fixes for anyone still seeing problems:

* Unusual battery depletion is almost always caused by people choosing to "Restore from backup"instead of "Setup as new iPhone" when iTunes asks you. This isn't caused by either the jailbreak or the unlock, but it's a common 3.0 snafu. The fix is to just re-run the official 3.0 restore and choose "Setup as new" this time. Your music and apps and all that will still be synced, but you'll get rid of any conflicting wifi, bluetooth, or carrier settings. Then just re-run redsn0w and install ultrasn0w.
* Remember, ultrasn0w works with hacktivated phones too, but don't outsmart redsn0w into thinking you don't need hacktivation! If you don't plan on using an official sim, don't activate via iTunes with such a sim. Just keep your unofficial sim at all times and let redsn0w and ultrasn0w handle hacktivation :)
* T-Mobile in the USA doesn't use the 3G frequencies that the iPhones support, so turn off 3G in Settings->General->Network. (Some T-Mobile territories gracefully hand down to Edge mode, but most do not).
* Certain unofficial plans have limitations on whether you can make calls and use data at the same time. That's not unlock-related..."

iPhone Dev Team iOS 4 3 Doesnt Fix Untethered Jailbreak

iPhone Dev Team iOS 4 3 Doesnt Fix Untethered Jailbreak Image
The iOS 4.3.3 software update Apple recently released does not fix the untethered jailbreak exploit used in iPhone hacker, i0n1c's jailbreak. This has been confirmed by iPhone Dev Team member @comex. This means that users can still jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 untethered, although no iOS 4.3.3 jailbreak is out yet because the iPhone hackers will need to update their jailbreak software to support it.

Jailbreak users can expect redsn0w or some other jailbreak software to be updated to support iOS 4.3.3 in the near future. As of right now jailbreak users can still jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 using the current version of redsn0w, but the jailbreak is tethered which means they will need to keep jailbreaking every time they reboot their iOS device.

If you are a jailbreak user our advice is not to jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 until an untethered iOS 4.3.3 jailbreak is released!

The Next iPhone Will Soon Follow

The Next iPhone Will Soon Follow Image
With the new iPad Apple started bringing its mobile devices to 4G LTE networks, and some code in iOS 5.1 indicates that the next iPhone will soon follow. There some code strings in iOS 5.1 that point to 4G LTE in relation to phone and FaceTime calls.

The new code, found by iDownloadBlog, shows what would be a toggle in Settings for enabling or disabling 4G on an iOS device. That alone would be expected because of the new iPad. However, there's other code for warning users when enabling or disabling the 4G radio in the device.

The strings of code reads:

"4G ON CALL CANCEL" = "Cancel";

"4G ON CALL OK DISABLE" = "Disable";

"4G ON CALL OK ENABLE" = "Enable";

"4G ON CALL WARNING DISABLE" = "Disabling 4G will end your phone call. Are you sure you want to disable 4G?";

"4G ON CALL WARNING ENABLE" = "Enabling 4G will end your phone call. Are you sure you want to enable 4G?";

"4G ON FACETIME 4G WARNING DISABLE" = "Disabling 4G will end FaceTime. Are you sure you want to disable 4G?";

"4G ON FACETIME WIFI WARNING DISABLE" = "Disabling 4G may end FaceTime. Are you sure you want to disable 4G?";

"4G TEXT" = "Using 4G loads data faster, but may decrease battery life.";

This code shows that Apple is at least testing an iPhone with 4G. There's no other reason the warnings would show that enabling or disabling 4G would end a phone call.

The phone call warnings also give more evidence to the rumors of a Qualcomm World LTE radio inside iPhone 5. With that chip the next iPhone will use 4G for both voice and data.

Switching on/off the 4G radio would certainly cut off a phone call if the phone put voice over 4G.

The FaceTime strings are also quite interesting, and seem to indicate FaceTime over 4G. The codes show warnings that turning off 4G will end a FaceTime call, or that it is a possibility. The first string for FaceTime is for a call taking place entirely on 4G, while the second is for a FaceTime call switching between 4G and Wi-Fi.

When Steve Jobs first introduced FaceTime on the iPhone 4, he mentioned that it would remain Wi-Fi only for 2010. Now, in 2012 with 4G LTE networks we may finally be able to use FaceTime outside of Wi-Fi networks.

Though given how fast new iPad users are going through 4G data limits, FaceTime over 4G might cause more problems than it's worth. Unless Apple finds a way to make it use less mobile data.

New iOS 5.1 Code Shows Apple is Working on 4G LTE iPhone is a post by Shawn Ingram from Gotta Be Mobile.

We're pitting two iPhone and iPad games against one another that are all about settling a brave new world. On the one side, we have the digital adaptation of the classic board game, Catan. In the other, we have a veteran PC title that's made the leap to mobile, called The Settlers.

For some people, the word "Catan" will conjure up memories of hours spent haggling for sheep and building roads. Trust me, it's more fun than it sounds - that nostalgia is what will pull most iPhone and iPad owners to give the digital game a try. The game board is broken up into hexagonal tiles, each with their own resource type. Players build settlements at the intersections of these tiles to gather surrounding resources, and construct roads to connect their towns. Every turn, dice are rolled to determine which tiles produce resources, which the players can then trade with one another as needed. There are a variety of win criteria, none of which involve going to war and razing your opponents' cities to the ground, which is a nice change of pace. Instead, you earn victory points for having the longest road, the most (or biggest) cities, and amassing the largest army. The first one to a certain number of victory points (usually 10) wins.

The fly-in menu in Catan is very slick, and after a few games, navigating it becomes very natural.

The charm of the board game was playing with friends - wheeling and dealing in resources, cutting each other off in road construction, and planting robbers in their territory to plunder their resources. Despite the wide variety of turn-based online multiplayer titles available for iPhone, Catan only offers local hand-off multiplayer, which significantly stunts the fun factor. Catan also takes another knock for requiring you to buy "The Seafarers" expansion pack for 5 in order to access the single-player campaign mode, although it nearly doubles the number of scenarios you can play in the one-off custom games. Without the add-on, you're limited to the generic skirmish mode with AI opponents and a smaller handful of game variants. Given, the computer opponents have a wide variety of strengths and weaknesses, providing for some decent replayability, it's still not an ideal single-player experience with a level-by-level narrative. At least dealing with robots means you don't feel bad for taking a long time on turns or screwing them over in trades. I found the user interface and graphics for Catan to be pretty nice, and even when you're just playing with the AI, the fundamental gameplay retains its classic appeal.

Youll have a lot of buildings in The Settlers, and even more resources to manage.

Fans of the settling-themed games will likely be familiar with The Settlers series on PC. At its core, The Settlers is a production chain game. The line of production is sensible, but extensive. Make a woodcutter to chop wood. Make a sawmill to make boards from that wood. Use the boards to make a farm. Make a mill to turn the grain into flour. This goes on all the way through feeding miners to smelting iron to training troops to expanding your territory. Though aggressive military expansion is the inevitable outcome of all of that micromanaging, you spend the vast majority of your time making sure everyone is fed and properly supplied. The game stretches across four separate single-player campaigns, traveling through a wide variety of landscapes and pitting you against many different civilizations - both indigenous and competing colonies.

The problem with The Settlers is that the sheer complexity of the chain of production creates a very cluttered user interface on the iPhone. There are tons of sub-menus to pinpoint specific units. Terrain is graded on how quick it is to build structures, creating this jarring blur of red and green dots. Though some of the nitpickier parts of the PC game have been axed for simplicity, such as creating the network of roads to connect buildings, and upgrading building levels to increase productivity, I would say they could have cut even more while keeping the same core, appealing gameplay. For example, we could skip the coal requirement to smelt iron and gold, get rid of stone mines since there are already quarries, and reduce the number of unit types to avoid confusion. There are 33 different types of settlers that you have to manage, each with their own tool, material, and building requirements, not to mention the second- and third-level military units you can train - that's a lot to juggle. They've even introduced a lot of extra elements that I don't recognize since playing Settlers 7 on PC, like sulfur mines, eyecatcher buildings, and priests.

Is this what combat is supposed to look like?

Sure, great real-time strategy games benefit from extensive tech trees, but for an iPhone game, it feels cramped, and I imagine even on an iPad The Settlers would be hectic. The graphics are decent, but zooming in on gameplay just shows a pixelated blown-up view, rather than higher-res textures.

Picking between the two is a tough call because they both have pretty specific flaws; Catan is missing vital online multiplayer support, and Settlers has a cramped user interface. Despite having similar themes, both have fairly different game mechanics, too. Besides having a more streamlined user interface, I found the pace of Catan's gameplay more sensible for mobile; even with a fast-forward button, The Settlers is built for long-haul single-player missions. Meanwhile, you could have a rewarding turn in Catan in a split second, and quickly put it away if something else demanded your attention. I'm sure The Settlers would be less cluttered on the iPad, and if you're a hardcore fan of the franchise, I'd suggest checking it out, but for casual players looking for a fresh colonization game on iPhone, go with Catan.

1 3 iPhone Apps To Work On

1 3 iPhone Apps To Work On Image
Firmware version 1.1.3 has just been jailbroken, today on January 19 with read and right access. iPhone firmware version 1.1.3 has still not been unlocked yet. The 1.1.3 Secpack has been found. The jailbreak was done by the iPhone dev Team and Elite Team. But there have been some rumors that they're going to wait until the iPhone SDK comes out in late February to release it. This could be false, though. At this time the jailbreaking procedure is very long. It should be much easier soon. Hopefully the dev Team will release it next weekend. When new information comes out I will update. To watch the video with firmware version 1.1.3 jailbroken in action click here.

Update 1/20 5:30 PM PST: The iPhone dev Team will hold off the release of the 1.1.3 jailbreak until the SDK comes out in late February. That could be a good thing because if Apple requires us to update to a newer version in order to download apps from iTunes, we would still be able to jailbreak and we would still have the ability to download apps through iTunes. They are also working on getting the 1.1.3 iPhone apps to work on 1.1.2. Another downside is that with the 1.1.3 firmware many of the applications will not work. The applications from the Springboard do not have root access anymore which means we wouldn't be able to use Customize. The dev Team is also working on fixing Installer so it will work on 1.1.3. Many applications would have to modified to to work on 1.1.3. The 1.1.3 jailbreak does not look like it will be as great as we expected.

Update 1/22 9:45 PM PST: The iPhone dev Team and Elite Team have recently merged to develop the jailbreak for firmware version 1.1.3. It took about seven members to develop the jailbreak. This jailbreak will not require any hardware modification of any kind. The jailbreak is done by some command line work. Also all apps will go into the mobile section of the iPod's file system (/var/mobile).

Apple iPhone Tops J D Power Smartphone User Satisfaction Survey Obviously

Apple iPhone Tops J D Power Smartphone User Satisfaction Survey Obviously Image
Surprise! Everyone loves their iPhones. J.D. Power and Associates have just announced the results of their annual smartphone customer satisfaction survey, and like usual, Apple's iPhone has topped the list. On a 1,000-point scale, spanning criteria of performance, ease of operation, physical design, and features, Apple scored 839. Second place was claimed by HTC with a score of 798, while the industry average was 774. This is the seventh consecutive win for Apple in this particular survey.

ChangeWave recently published a survey which backs up the sentiment, but I don't think we really need a lot of stats to prove the point that people love their iPhones. The J.D. Power and Associates survey does a good job highlighting what's important to people, though. Battery life is the least satisfying part of a smartphone, according to their research. Software stability is also really high on the list; devices which experienced a crash at least once a week averaged a score of 691.

On that note, what's the very worst thing you could say about your iPhone? The screen size?

iPhone Apple Patent App Portends Gadgets Made Of Glass

iPhone Apple Patent App Portends Gadgets Made Of Glass Image
Thought all those shattered screens and iPhone 4 backplates would push Apple towards making mobile devices machined from aluminum like its laptops and tablets? Think again, friends, because a newly published patent application from Cupertino indicates the company is considering crafting portable computing devices out of glass. The app claims a "substantially seamless enclosure... extruded in its entirety with glass material" so that wireless signals can freely flow to and fro, along with a method for manufacturing such a device. Naturally, this is only an application, and it doesn't say exactly what kind of super-durable glass would make this a desirous design change. So, who knows if we'll ever see an all-glass exterior on an iPhone or iPod, but you can get a more in-depth peek at that potential future at the source link below. You can also get a glance at what'll be Android's new anthem should that glass-filled future come to pass.

I Buy An iPhone To Get iOS

I Buy An iPhone To Get iOS Image
Why would Apple ever prioritize over "When HAS Apple prioritized market share over profits? And how did that turn out? (Hint - cloning; almost put Apple out of business, before Jobs came back and refocused the company on wait for it profitable activities.)

I'm sure Apple is capable of producing a feature-phone that maybe looked like an iPhone, but it wouldn't "an iPhone if it didn't support all/most of the features of iOS. It would be the equivalent of the new iPod nano Looks like iOS, but isn't; removes features that people think of when they think of iPod nano. It's not clear to me why they build it other than "because we could" -- or who is buying it.

Would a smaller iPhone be neat? Sure. Would I want one? Eh, not if I lost capabilities just to get a smaller device. I buy an iPhone to get iOS, apps, GPS, FaceTime, the "real browser" experience, etc. etc. Not because it has a shiny Apple on the back.
