Google Maps On The iPhone One

Google Maps On The iPhone One Image
One of the most exciting and useful applications available on the iPhone is Google Maps, giving you the ability to find locations by street address, map out directions and even view satellite pictures of specific places around the world. The advantage of using Google Maps on the iPhone as opposed to other similar phones is that it was designed to integrate directly with the service by developers at Apple and Google

Learning to use Google Maps on the iPhone is simple if you remember a few tips.

Step 1

Tap on the "Maps" icon on the home screen of the iPhone to open the Google Maps application. You will see a small search field at the top of the screen. Tap on the search field to make the keypad appear on the iPhone's screen.

Step 2

Type an address into the search field using the keypad. You can use almost anything on the map as search terms, including the names of towns, cities, street intersections, landmarks or zip codes, but it is always best to be as specific as possible. Tap "Search" when you have finished typing and a small pin will appear on the screen marking the approximate location on the map.

Step 3

Find out more information about the location you have searched for by tapping on the pin. The name of the location and a short description will appear if it is available from the Google Maps database. If a phone number or website address is available, relevant buttons will appear that will automatically connect you via phone or Internet if you tap them.

Step 4

View a satellite image of the location you have searched by tapping on the icon labeled "Satellite" to switch to satellite view from the map. You can zoom in and zoom out using the same finger motions used to do so on the map. Scroll around the satellite image by tapping on a different area of the map to make it automatically become the new center of the image.

Step 5

Use Google Maps on the iPhone to get directions to a specific location by tapping "Directions" on the map and entering the beginning and ending locations in the "Start" and "End" fields. Tap "Route" to view the directions, tapping on the small black arrow icon to view the directions one step at a time or the small eye icon to see a list of all the steps involved.

Find My iPad Is On

Find My iPad Is On Image
YOU JUST SPENT A GOOD DEAL OF CASH TO PURCHASE THE NEW IPAD. HAVE YOU GIVEN THOUGHT AS TO WHAT YOU WOULD DO IF IT WERE LOST OR STOLEN?

Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to "track" your iPad and know exactly where it was at all times? Well, fortunately, there is. If you signed up for Apple's free iCloud service (and we all should) you have an easy way of always locating your iPad -- Find my iPhone.

Yes, it the app is called Find My iPhone, but it finds any iOS device or Mac that is registered with iCloud.

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR FIND MY IPAD

Find My iPad is ON in iCloud Settings

First, either create or login to your iCloud account when you set up your iPad. If you chose not to create or sign into an iCloud account, you can always:

* Go to Settings.
* Touch the iCloud icon along the left hand column.
* Touch Account and sign into iCloud.
* Make sure that the Find My iPad switch is set to the ON position.

Now that you are logged in to iCloud and have the switch turned ON- the fun begins.

HOW TO USE FIND MY IPAD VIA THE WEB

On your Mac, Windows, or Linux PC, go to the iCloud website - www.icloud.com - and log into your iCloud account.

You will see the iCloud icons on the screen - click on Find my iPhone.

Click on the Find My iPhone icon in the iCloud interface

The next screen will show you all your iOS devices. Those that are discoverable have a small green dot next to the name of the device. If you see a green dot next to your iPad - you are in luck. If you have a WiFi only version and it is "offline" - you are out of luck (at least for the moment.)

Click on the device you wish to locate - in our case, it is your iPad - and an the map will show the location of your iPad and when it was last located.

Click on the iOS device you wish to locate and it will be shown on map

Touch the "I" icon next to the name of your iPad and you will have three options listed:

* Play Sound or Send Message.
* Remote Lock.
* Remote Wipe.

Options available after iPad is located

If you think you just misplaced your iPad or that someone borrowed it without asking, click on Play Sound or Send Message.

You will then see a dialogue box for you to type in a message. When you are done, just click the Send button.

Type in a message to be displayed on the iPad

What happens next is that the message is displayed on the iPad - wherever it is and a sound is played. The message is visible when the iPad is locked and is displayed again when the iPad is unlocked.

Message is displayed on the iPad Lock screen

The message can be as detailed as you like - in this example, I assumed someone just borrowed my iPad. If I thought it misplaced or I didn't remember who I lent it to I might give my contact information. If it were lost - I might even offer a reward for returning it.

What if you know or think your iPad was stolen? This is where the Remote Lock and Remote Wipe feature comes in. You may not get your iPad back, but you can take steps to make sure that your information is not stolen along with your iPad.

Click Remote Lock and the dastardly appropriator of your iPad will find the iPad useless - the won't be able to unlock it.

Click Remote Wipe and all the information will be deleted from the iPad - a great security feature.

If your iPad is "offline" you still have the options to:

* Play Sound or Send Message.
* Remote Lock
* Remote Wipe
* Email you when iPad is found

Options available to you in your iPad is offline

I would recommend that you enable either Remote Lock or Remote Wipe and as soon as someone tries to take your iPad online, it will become useless to them. (Assuming it was stolen.)

Find My iPad is guaranteed piece of mind that in the event your iPad is lost or stolen you can both locate it (for possible recovery) and lock or wipe it (for security.)

HOW TO USE FIND MY IPAD ON YOUR IOS DEVICES

If you have another iOS device, like an iPhone or iPod touch, or secondary iPad, you can even use Find my iPad when you're mobile. Apples makes an app for that:

FREE - DOWNLOAD NOW

Just download it, login, and you have access to all the same features and can track and secure any devices on the the same Apple ID.

Do you use Find my iPad? Have you ever located a misplaced device this way? Share your experience in this forum thread.

Company Competing With Apple Right Now In This Particular Space Is

Company Competing With Apple Right Now In This Particular Space Is Image
The first reviews of the new iPad are in, and as expected they focus on the areas that are visually and experientially different from last year's iPad 2. The consensus is that the Retina display is blow-you-eyeballs-back-through-your-skull impressive, and the responsiveness and LTE networking amazingly fast.

"Bloomberg"'s Rich Jaroslovsky says the new iPad is to the iPad 2 what the iPhone 4S was to the iPhone 4.

It isn't that the new iPad lacks impressive features -most notably, a vastly better display and an ultra-fast Internet- connection option. It's just that it seems designed to maintain Apple (AAPL)'s huge lead in the tablet wars, rather than to extend it.

"Daring Fireball"'s John Gruber finally has the iPad he longed for two years ago.

The retina display is amazing, everything in the UI feels faster, and the price points remain the same. What's not to love? It's that simple.

"The Loop"'s Jim Dalrymple is impressed with the new iPad's day to day usability and awed by it's Retina display.

So, what did I like about the iPad? Simple - the experience. Nobody in the market today can touch the Apple experience.

"Macworld"'s Jason Snell thinks that iPad 2 users shouldn't look at the new iPad, because it will be hard to go back.

The new iPad is just that: The iPad, updated for a new year and millions of new iPad users. It's not smaller or lighter, but it's got a remarkable screen, a much better rear camera, and support for cellular networking that can run at Wi-Fi speeds. It's the iPad that millions of people have embraced, only one year better.

"The New York Time"'s David Pogue thinks the new iPad is less an iPad 3 and more an iPad 2S.

The new iPad doesn't introduce anything that we haven't seen before, either in the iPhone or in rival tablets. There's no Steve Jobs "one more thing" moment here; Apple just took its white-hot iPad and added the latest screen, battery and cellular technologies.

"SlashGear"'s Vincent Nguyen thinks evolution is more important than revolution for tablets.

Steve Jobs would have approved of the new iPad. With its focus on the holistic experience rather than individual boasts around its constituent parts, it's the epitome of the Post-PC world the Apple founder envisaged. No lag or delay; no frustrating cloud settings or arcane minimum software requirements. Simply pick up, swipe, and you're immersed in a joined-up ecosystem. Apple doesn't need another revolution, it has already started one, and the new iPad brings a fresh degree of refinement to a segment in which it is undoubtedly the king.

"TechCrunch"'s Mg Siegler says looking at the new iPad is like putting on your glasses and seeing the world clearly again. He agrees with our buying/upgrading advice as well.

Technology is amazing, and this new iPad is amazing. Also amazing: the only company competing with Apple right now in this particular space is Apple.

"The Telegraph"'s Shane Richmond says the differences between the new iPad and the old iPad 2 are amazing, and also uses the glasses-on/glasses off analogy.

If you have been holding off getting a tablet then this is the one to go for. In my view, it's the best that money can buy. Existing iPad owners who are thinking of upgrading should take a look at this new device. You'll see the difference very, very clearly indeed.

"USA Today"'s Ed Baig like the new additions, but doesn't seem to understand even Adobe's given up on Mobile Flash

Pro. Stunning screen, 4G speeds (on certain models), decent dictation and improved camera optics. Strong battery. Apps galore. Con. Shooting with camera can be awkward. No Adobe Flash. No camera flash. No expanded storage.

"The Verge"'s Joshua Topolsky still laments the lack of glance-able information on the iPad, but can't recommend any other table more highly. And the Retina display? It looks like a glowing piece of paper.

Minor gripes aside, the iPad remains best in breed when it comes to design and materials. Other tablets may have more ports or larger screens, but few can match the elegance, sleekness, or solidness of this device.

"The Wall Street Journal"'s Wall Mossberg says the new iPad display is dramatically better and the content delivery is dramatically faster.

Since it launched in 2010, the iPad has been the best tablet on the planet. With the new, third-generation model, it still holds that crown.

We'll add more to the list when we find them, and will be providing our own, full on iMore review this weekend!

Amazon Kindle Fire Apple Did Keep Last Year

Amazon Kindle Fire Apple Did Keep Last Year Image
With the new iPad around the corner, there are lots of people wondering if now is the time to jump into the wonderful world of tablets. Of course, the new iPad will be the first one many first timers will look at. Many savvy shoppers, however, will also take a look at the alternatives before taking the plunge. That's especially true of low-cost alternatives like the BlackBerry PlayBook, Amazon Kindle Fire, and smattering of other bargain bin Android tablets (like the 100 ZTE Optik). The question is simple: how much are you willing to spend, and what value can you get for your money?

SCREEN SIZE

Other tablets might be smaller and cheaper, bigger and more expensive, or just different. Which one gives you what you need?

The most obvious sacrifice you tend to make when it comes to budget tablets is screen size, which might not actually be all that much of a bad thing if you're looking for something portable. The PlayBook, even with its 7-inch display, can still handle HD video playback respectably. The Amazon Kindle Fire is the same size, and is tied into all of Amazon's book, video, and music services.

The advantage of the smaller screen size is that you can fit it into a jacket pocket, and hold it for longer periods of time without getting tired. It's closer to a one-handed tablet than the two hands typically required for an iPad.

The down side is that a smaller screen restricts the type of apps you can run. As a result, with 7-inch tablets you typically get scaled up smartphone apps rather than the bigger, tablet-specific apps you get on the iPad. Also, for some bigger really is better when it comes to watching video, gaming, or reading.

If portability is your primary concerns, check out the PlayBook and the Kindle Fire. If screen size matters to you, check out the iPad.

MEDIA AND APPS

Its not just screen size that matters, but the quality and quantity of apps and media available to fill that screen

There's no other way to say it: compared to the iPad and the App Store, the BlackBerry PlayBook App World ecosystem is sorely lacking. This is the next sacrifice you make when aiming for budget tablets. Even within the massive Android market, Android tablet apps have been very slow to appear. On both platforms you can run Android smartphone apps, but the experience isn't even close to the same. (Just like running iPhone apps on the iPad is doable but not especially enjoyable.)

For games and really big name apps, it probably won't matter. You'll find what you need to get by. But if you want really great software and more importantly, a choice of several really great apps in any given category, it's something to consider.

Media -- books, TV shows, movies, and music -- varies more from platform to platform. Amazon, of course, is a content power house and there's an argument to be made that the Kindle Fire is as much a portal to the massive Amazon store as it is a tablet. The only catch is, Amazon media is almost entirely exclusive to the U.S. You can find Amazon MP3 in a few other countries, but compared to Apple's international iTunes availability, depending on where you live, the Kindle can end up being little more than a paperweight. Media on the PlayBook is more of a mixed bag, with apps and sync filling in some of the gaps, but nothing to compare with the content offerings from Amazon or iTunes.

If you're happy with the basics and already have a lot of your own content, you can go with a cheaper tablet. If you want the best choice of the best apps and an easy way to buy more content, go with the iPad.

PERFORMANCE AND USER EXPERIENCE

How well a tablet runs its software and how much you enjoy using it should be weighed against how much money you can save

Although the PlayBook saw significant price cuts due to slow sales and adoption, BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 runs really well on the hardware. Amazon has also fixed a lot of the bugs and performance issues that plagued the original Kindle Fire release and the user experience is now much smoother and more enjoyable.

Budget Android tablets tend to be more problematic. Delayed OS updates, wonky manufacturer customizations, and sketchy hardware performance can all make for a poor time on Android.

With the iPad you get what you pay for. A really smooth, really polished user experience that almost always keeps you focused on what you're doing without the distractions of poor or glitchy performance. It's a cliche but it just works.

One thing PlayBook and Android can boast over iOS, however, is a more open ecosystem, at that combined with a lower pricetag may be worth sacrifice if you're willing (or eager) to tweak your device.

If you want a good mix of performance and price, the Playbook followed more distantly by the Kindle Fire is worth checking out. If you value price over performance, budget Android tablets are worth a look. If you put a premium on performance and user experience, you'll ultimately enjoy the iPad more.

THE BUDGET IPAD

While the iPad 2 doesnt have Retina display, LTE options, or a real camera, its 100 cheaper

There's another choice worth considering in the budget tablet debate: the iPad 2. While it hasn't reached the 199 level of the BlackBerry PlayBook or Amazon Kindle Fire, Apple did keep last year's iPad 2 around at a discounted 399 price. If you don't mind missing out on a Retina display, faster graphics, LTE options, or better cameras, give it a look.

* iPad 2 vs the new iPad: Which should you get?

Apple also offers refurbished iPads, currently both first generation and iPad 2, via their online store. So if you're on a budget but have your heart set on an iPad, Apple's refurbished iPad store is worth a look.

ANY QUESTIONS?

Overall, if you're on a budget, you can typically find a decent (if not great) tablet alternative to the new iPad for 300 less. You're sacrificing app selection, screen size, and resolution, but you're gaining a wider variety of options when it comes to hardware configuration and software accessibility. Personally, it's easy for me to side with the new iPad -- I can only imagine that the disparity in gaming performance with anything else is going to be huge.

If money is tight, however, it can be really difficult to decide how much you can or will spend on a tablet. Lower cost doesn't always translate into better value, but the reality it, tablets aren't as critical as phones or computers, and there's only so much gadget money to go around. If you've already tried out the BlackBerry PlayBook, Amazon Kindle Fire, or another budget tablet, share your thoughts. If you have more questions or want more opinions, we're here to help.

You Don T Have An iPhone

You Don T Have An iPhone Image
This is the second and final part of our article about Siri for the Apple iPhone 4S and we will continue to offer some tips that you should consider in order to make better use of what Siri has to offer. It is highly recommended that you give the full command in one shot. Siri is fully capable of understanding run-on sentences so you should try to give full details about a command at once.

Another valuable tip that we can give you is to speak full names clearly. If Siri is not capable of understanding a proper name the first time you tell it, usually it will show you some options grabbed from your Contacts. Needless to say, you will now have to select the right person, and Siri (supposedly) is going to learn from your input. The more you say the same name for several times and the more you choose the corresponding option; Siri will learn how you are pronouncing the names that are in your phone's Contacts list so it won't make these mistakes as often in the future.

You also might want to consider adding relationships words such as "daughter", "son", "dad" and "wife". If you say "call my dad" Siri is going to ask you who your dad is and once you select it from the Contacts list Siri is going to know the next time who your dad is.

If you have used Siri before you probably have realized that it is imperfect. If you are unable to look at the screen of your iPhone 4S, you have the possibility to instruct Siri to read back your transcribed message before it will send it in order to prevent confusing, embarrassing and awkward errors. When Siri is going to ask you whether to save or send the message, you should say "read it to me" first, and now Siri is going to tell you the message that you are about to send. If you hear any mistakes, you can tell Siri what needs to be changed.

Once you tap on the mis-transcribed text, this will become editable. Fix what's wrong with a word and then Siri will reprocess the corrected instruction, which means that it will understand what you wanted to say in the first place. Another way to go would be that when the on-screen keyboard appears for editing the message, you have the possibility to use the microphone button to activate the 4S to start taking dictation.

The only method that you have to obtain Siri at the moment is by purchasing an Apple iPhone 4S. However, if you don't have the money for this smartphone but you are still curios to find out how it works, on the App Store you will find two similar (free) applications: Vlingo and Dragon Go! for iPhone. These will work regardless of the version of the iPhone that you have, but keep in mind that these do not have some of the features that Siri comes with.

In addition, if you don't have an iPhone, chances are that you own an Android device (since Windows Phone 7 is not very popular at the moment) which is why you might want to have a look at a similar application developed for Google's operating system which is called Speaktoit, a software that will offer you a taste of what Siri is capable of doing for you.

iPhone Does Your New iPad Get Warm Poll

iPhone Does Your New iPad Get Warm Poll Image
Does your new iPad get warm? And is it a problem? We first noticed our new iPads were getting a little warm on the lower left side right after we got them, but only because previous iPads had always stayed so cool. For years our MacBooks have burned under Flash and our iPhones have become tiny space heaters when tethering or using turn-by-turn GPS, so no big deal. You can't pack that big a screen, that high a capacity battery, that screaming a graphics chip, and that fast an LTE radio into a case almost the same size and not have all that power go somewhere, right?

The new iPads higher running temperature been confirmed by scientific testing now, and addressed in a quote from Apple, but that hasn't stopped the headlines tripping all over themselves already.

Luckily, iPads will cool down when we stop downloading or stop playing, but the dumb headlines will last forever.

In the meantime, we wanted to do our own poll of the iMore Nation and find out what our community of iOS enthusiasts thought of the issue. How hot is your iPad running? And is it too hot?

Is this just one more mainstream media attempt to get Apple into a fake-gate, or is the heat a real issue that deserves attention and will need to be further addressed?

Vote in the poll up top and let me know your thoughts in the comments, and in our new iPad forums!

Apple Launched The Current 6th Generation Of The Model

Apple Launched The Current 6th Generation Of The Model Image
The most dramatic changes brought to the iPod nano lineup occurred in 2010 when Apple launched the current 6th generation of the model. The company decided to ditch the conventional style of an MP3 player that we saw up until the fifth generation of the model, and went to this 6G model that is part of a totally different category. There are many people who are disappointed because this latest nano doesn't have the traditional clickwheel controls, while others prefer this more compact and innovative design approach that brings a touchscreen interface.

The box that comes with the iPod nano 6G is just as compact as the device itself and you can opt for either the 8GB or 16GB version. This is indeed a very compact device as it measures 37.5 x 40.9 x mm and it is only 8.78 mm thick, including the clip sitting on the back. Since it weighs only 21.1g, you will be able to clip it anywhere you want.

This new version of the iPod nano comes with all the hallmarks regarding quality construction that Apple is known for, including premium materials along with a minimalist design which is very appealing. The device is manufactured from a metal block that doesn't show any joins while the solid build will impress anyone. As for the buttons, these feel very good while the screen is just as firm, not flexing at all. Regarding the buttons that this Apple iPod nano 6G comes with, you get only a sleep button and volume controls that are sitting on the top of the device, while on the bottom you will notice the 3.5mm headphone jack and the regular dock connector. The MP3 player is shipped with a normal pair of headphones which means that your top priority after buying the nano would be to purchase a more decent pair of headphones to get the most out of your nano. It is advisable that you opt for those that come with an in-line remote as these will allow you to control the device considerably easier while you are on-the-move. As you would expect, the screen is the focal point of the iPod nano 6G now as it handles not only the display but also the controls of the device. The touch action seems to be responsive at all times, just like on the iPhone 4 or the iPod Touch. After you manage to learn the basics you will find that it is extremely easy to browse through the available menu options. These menus are ranged across four pages and in each page there are four icons. You have the possibility to swipe through these pages and pick whatever you want to enter, while after that the navigation remains just as easy. You will be able to browse the music that you have saved on your nano by artist, album, song, genre and composer, and let's not forget that it comes with Genius support as well.

The display of the iPod nano 6G measures 1.54 inches and has a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels, which means that it has a pixel density of 220ppi which makes it very sharp. The screen manages to be not only very bright and vibrant, but it is also detailed and makes the nano a joy to use. Join us for the second part of the article where we continue our review of the sixth generation of the Apple iPod nano.

Several Rumors Indicate A Possible Mobile Phone

Several Rumors Indicate A Possible Mobile Phone Image
APPLE IPAD 3 RUMORS are getting crazy and the release date just might be March 29, 2012, as information is leaked about an A6 QUAD-CORE chip.

There's no doubt that the iPad 3 will have a new shell and casing and the release could also introduce Retina Display, which means sharper pictures and vivid colors.

Could it also have a mobile phone? Several rumors indicate a possible mobile phone built right inside the tablet itself. However, this one might not be happening because it would have an impact on iPhone sales.

The NEW APPLE TABLET won't be as fast as we originally thought. Does it matter all that much? It depends on how you plan to use the device.

If your usage revolves around checking emails, Facebook or reading the news, it won't be a deal-breaker. The iPad 2 uses a dual-core A5 chip, so the hardware will still get an upgrade.

Several legitimate sources are standing by reports that the IPAD 3 will have 2048x1536 Retina Display. Meaning, we'll see a jump in display quality similar to the one from the iPhone 3G to iPhone 4. Expect sharper pictures with more vivid colors.

The Mac blogs (9to5Mac, MacRumors and Repair Labs) are on fire with the idea that a photo circulating of an iPad 3 shell is indeed the next iteration of Apple's tablet.

Everyone is sticking to a March release date. According to AllThingsD, a source familiar with the matter says the iPad will be announced the first week of March.

Previous rumors over the iPad 3's release date include a note by Citi analyst Richard Gardner saying the tablet would come out in February, which was reported by Business Insider. Another prediction came from the Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News, which claimed the iPad 3 would be launched in March or the middle of the first quarter.

And most recently, Mashable noticed iPad 3 books were set to launch on Amazon's European site March 29 - meaning, the iPad couldn't come out later than that date.

The original iPad launched in April 2010 and the iPad 2 in March 2011. Things are about to get interesting.

Coca-cola Launched The iPhone Application

Coca-cola Launched The iPhone Application Image

The Coca-Cola Co. has launched an application to promote its Sprite brand, emphasizing that mobile has become an integral part of its 360-degree marketing strategy.

Sprite has launched Zoozbeat Sprite, the first iPhone application to be offered through Sprite's ongoing Under the Cap promotion. When consumers enter Sprite cap codes via text message, they receive mobile rewards, including the new Sprite-branded, music-focused Zoozbeat application.

"Smart marketers are looking at all the different ways to communicate with people-traditional, in-store, out-of-home, online and mobile," said a spokeswoman for Coca-Cola. "Since the Sprite brand is focused on youth, we want to focus on mobile in particular, and this is the first big Under the Cap program we've launched in the U.S., which we're looking to grow moving forward," she said. "If you're not taking that 360-degree approach today, then you're not marketing effectively."

Zoozbeat Sprite's music, recreation, and remix studio has been downloaded more than 1 million times since launching in the Apple App Store in November 2008. Zoozbeat Sprite transforms iPhones into mobile music studios, letting users create their own tracks with downloadable beats and samples from music producers and artists such as Dallas Austin.

Zoozbeat Sprite works by shaking, tilting or tapping the iPhone screen to create and combine rhythmic and melodic tracks that can be uploaded to the Web for listening and sharing in mp3 format with friends. Users can unlock additional beats within the application by twisting the cap off any Sprite or Sprite Zero bottle and texting in the keyword ZOOZ followed by the code under the cap. Sprite will then provide consumers with a Zoozbeat Sprite code that can use be used to unlock more beats. Additional artists being featured on the Zoozbeat Sprite application include hip-hop producer Khayree, Alex Christie, SY Scott, Novel, Sheed, Laron Brant and Spree Wilson.

The target demographic for the iPhone application is the same as overall target demographic for Sprite-multicultural youth ages 13-24. As young people have their iPhones attached to their wrist a mobile app was a natural fit.

Coca-Cola will also run mobile advertising across the mobile Web sites and within other iPhone applications to promote Zoozbeat Sprite. Coca-Cola launched the iPhone application as an enhancement to the larger Under the Cap program Sprite has been running. Consumers participating in the program can opt in to receive SMS alerts and other messages from Sprite. The Under the Cap program is also promoted on packaging for the Sprite brand, encouraging consumers to text in to receive various rewards.

An iPhone To Shoot Broadcast Quality Video Is Highly Impressive

An iPhone To Shoot Broadcast Quality Video Is Highly Impressive Image
TV news network "Al-Jazeera" will air a documentary tonight that has been filmed entirely with an iPhone. The documentary was filmed by an undercover journalist using just an iPhone as the use of a large camera would have been a major security risk. The documentary called "Syria: Songs of Defiance" follows an anonymous journalist on a journey amongst the uprising in Syria.
I can't tell you my name. I've spent many months secretly in Syria for Al Jazeera. I cannot show my face and my voice is disguised to conceal my identity, because I don't want to endanger my contacts in Syria. Because carrying a camera would be risky, I took my cell phone with me as I moved around the country and captured images from the uprising that have so far remained unseen.
The model of iPhone has not been revealed although we would have to assume that it would be at least an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S. These models do have incredible optics and can produce some excellent quality video. The fact that a journalist can now use a device as small and portable as an iPhone to shoot broadcast quality video is highly impressive!

iTunes Store

iTunes Store Image
Apple has just announced its line up for the annual iTunes Festival. The event which first started in 2007 has been hugely popular as all of the tickets are given away free of charge. The live concerts all take place at London's The Roundhouse and it all kicks off on September 1st and goes on until September 30th.
Every year since 2007, the iTunes Festival has been bringing you a full month of spectacular live music. Many of the world's biggest stars and the brightest newcomers have graced the festival stage, and this year's brilliant line-up includes jack White, One Direction, Norah Jones and more. It will all take place in September 2012 at one of the UK's best live music venues-the Roundhouse in London.
So far Apple has confirmed performances by Usher, Emeli Sand'e, Jack White, Norah Jones and every teenage girls dream, One Direction. There will be many more artists to come over the next couple of months so this is certain to be a popular event. Even better the tickets are always free. If you want them just simply apply for them through the app or online. Apple is also running a competition to win a Festival Pass which gives you access to every concert during the festival.

If you can't make the live shows, you can enjoy all the action live on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch via the iTunes Festival app, as well as on your Mac or PC. The iOS app even supports AirPlay; enabling you to stream the action straight to your Apple TV. Unfortunately, it looks like being exclusively for UK based users as the app is only available in the UK App Store.

Mobile Device Expect To Buy The New iPad

Mobile Device Expect To Buy The New iPad Image
You have to hand it to Apple. The company is a master when it comes to building up anticipation in advance of a new product or even a product refresh -- as was the case with last year's iPhone 4s. It's no wonder, then, that things had built up to a fever pitch ahead of yesterday's unveiling of the new Apple iPad -- yes, just iPad, not the iPad 3 or iPad HD as just about everyone had expected. One pre-launch survey said that nearly a third of users who own a mobile device expect to buy the new iPad. Other research reported that 42 percent of current iPad owners planed to upgrade to the latest version. Certainly, the new iPad packs in a bunch of technical upgrades, some pretty major. However will it be enough to sustain the pre-launch enthusiasm? That's an open question, but given Apple's track record, I wouldn't bet against it.

iPhone Why Is Rim Hiring iOS App Developers

iPhone Why Is Rim Hiring iOS App Developers Image
First, Research In Motion opened its highly secure Enterprise servers to Apple's iPhone. Then it unveiled enterprise device-management software for it, called BlackBerry Mobile Fusion.

And now it appears that the company plans to build apps for the iPhone, as well.

A March 20 RIM job posting shows the company seeking a Senior iOS Mobile Developer to build enterprise applications; specifically, "an experienced iOS/Objective-C developer capable of architecting, designing, developing and testing complex applications for iPhone and iPad devices."

Among the job requirements: At least two years of professional experience in writing iOS apps, and the ability to show off a few of them in the iTunes App Store at the time of the candidate's interview.

What does RIM want with its own iOS developers? That's not clear, and the company has not responded to requests for comment; it is in the quiet period prior to reporting earnings next week. Perhaps it has something to do with RIM's BlackBerry Mobile Fusion effort, though presumably that wouldn't require app developers. That said, given the consumerization of IT and RIM's efforts to hold on to enterprise clients that might be slowly slipping away from it, having a BB Fusion app in the App Store might be a wise idea.

Another theory: The company is indeed working on bringing its popular BlackBerry Messenger service to iOS, as has been rumored before.
