iPhone Command And Conquer Red Alert For iPad Strategyrpg Games

iPhone Command And Conquer Red Alert For iPad Strategyrpg Games Image
Although the iPhone Red Alert is a completely different game to its similarly titled 1996 PC forebear, the fact that it's up there with its big brothers shows just how far mobile gaming has come. It's one of the best-looking games on the iPhone, and in its largest battles it's a mind-blowing technical achievement.

It's not without issues, though. Real-time strategy is infamously difficult to adapt to anything without a keyboard and mouse, and genre fans are likely to find similar complaints here. While the touch screen is far better than a console controller, there's still a lot crammed into such a small screen, and in the heat of battle it can be hard to distinguish your units, let alone manipulate them with any great precision.

Still, kudos to EA for a good crack at adapting Red Alert to the iPhone. It's hard to see how it could have done any better and in many ways it was very successful.

Apple Owns Far More Of The Tablet Market Than They Do The Smartphone

Apple Owns Far More Of The Tablet Market Than They Do The Smartphone Image
As part of their cash-balance conference call this morning, Apple CEO Tim Cook responded to a question about the new iPad by saying Apple had a "record weekend". Cook didn't elaborate further, and didn't specify if that meant sales volumes or some other metric. Apple hasn't been shy about issuing post-launch press releases to tout big numbers in the past, so it's possible we'll see that this year as well.

Cook also once again highlighted the growth potential of the iPhone, which currently only accounts for 9% of the handset market. Apple, like many others, believes that one day soon all phones will be smartphones and they think the iPhone has a huge opportunity there, as it does in other markets.

Likewise, they see sales growing for the iPad and believe the iPad market will eventually surpass the PC market as a whole. Apple owns far more of the tablet market than they do the smartphone market, which creates the potential for remarkable growth.

The App Store, iTunes, iCloud, and Siri were also singled out to highlight the pace of Apple's innovation and the breadth of their ecosystem.

The most recent quarterly results included:

* 37.04 million iPhones sold - 128% growth
* 15.43 million iPads sold - 111% increase
* 7.7 million iPod touch's sold

That combined for 315 cumulative iOS device sales to date -- 62 million in the last quarter alone. And that was before the new iPad was released.

From the Apple II to the Mac to the iPhone and iPad, Apple has relentlessly strived to mainstream computing technology, and that positions them well for that not-so-distant future where all phones are smart and most computers are appliance-like cars rather than workstation trucks.

Apple Inc How To Use Siri On Your iPhone 4s Part I

Apple Inc How To Use Siri On Your iPhone 4s Part I Image
One of the most interesting features of the new iPhone 4S is Siri, your speech-recognition "personal assistant". It is indeed a very useful feature but it takes some time until you get the hang of it. From the beginning we should mention that this is not an application in the iPhone sense as it isn't something that you can download from the App Store. In addition, you won't find an icon on your phone for it.

When you get your brand new iPhone 4S, Siri comes fully pre-loaded on the device but you will have to set it up before you can take full advantage of what it has to offer. First of all, Siri is going to need your name and also the language that you speak. To configure this you must go to Settings, then General, then Siri. Now, you will have to go to My Info and then select your name from your Contacts list. You will also have to select the preferred language: UK English, US English, French, German and Australian English. While you are in this menu you might want to configure the rest of the options available, such as voice feedback and raise to speak.

As far as accessing Siri is concerned, you basically have two ways of using it: from afar and up close. Those of you that would like to use this feature of the iPhone 4S while the handset is at a comfortable distance from where you are, like in the situation in which the device is sitting on a tabletop, you will have to press & hold the home button. You will hear two quick tones, along with seeing a picture of a microphone on the display, which means that Siri is now listening to what you have to say. Remember that you won't have to hold the 4S near year face in order for Siri to hear you. The other way to use Siri is to pick up the smartphone and hold it to your ear, just like if you were having a conversation with someone on the other line. You will hear two short tones once again, which means that Siri is waiting for your command. Now, we shall offer some tips for using Siri which you might want to consider for improving your "relationship" with your very own personal assistant. Theoretically speaking, you shouldn't have any problems with Siri while you are talking with your normal voice at a normal pace, but reality has shown that this isn't always the case. It is recommended that you should clearly enunciate proper names and also if you phrase commands in certain ways it will generate more accurate results.

As you probably know this by know, Siri doesn't process what you tell it locally on your smartphone as this software needs a 3G or a Wi-Fi signal for sending the command through a remote server. You will also have to be specific when talking to Siri because it will get confused right away if you tell it to do something general, such as "launch iTunes". It helps if you give it more specific commands. Join us for the second part of the article where we will share other tips that you could follow in order to take full advantage of what Siri for the Apple iPhone 4S has to offer.

An Lte iPhone Will Likely Be Badly Disadvantaged On Sprint S Network

An Lte iPhone Will Likely Be Badly Disadvantaged On Sprint S Network Image
Bernstein Research analyst Craig Moffett downgraded his rating on Sprint stock to underperform, along with a note that says bankruptcy is a very real threat with the LTE iPhone looming. We believe an LTE iPhone will likely be badly disadvantaged on Sprint's network, potentially impairing sales... at a time when Sprint is subject to a punishing take-or-pay deal with Apple. The problem is 4G. Sprint doesn't have enough free-and-clear spectrum on which to launch a competitive LTE network, and it doesn't have the money to clear spectrum that's already in use. To be clear, we are not predicting a Sprint bankruptcy. We are merely acknowledging that it is a very legitimate risk. And notwithstanding a recent rally in Sprint shares, we believe that risk is rising.

As you might recall, rumor has it that Sprint basically bet the farm on the iPhone 4S, but considering how much T-Mobile is hurting without it, who can blame them? Sprint's LTE rollout was supposed to be kicking off this year, but if their 4G network isn't reasonably matured by the time an LTE-capable iPhone is announced, they may be in trouble. One can only presume that most of the money AT&T forked over for the failed merger went to those kinds of network upgrades.

It's worth pointing out that while Sprint currently offers the CMDA iPhone 4S, they didn't get the new iPad last week like AT&T and Verizon did. Not on LTE. Not even on CDMA.

Anyone taking bets? Will Sprint be able to keep their network up to snuff for the LTE iPhone, or do AT&T and Verizon have too much of a head start?

2 0 Is Now Available For The iPhone The Google Search App For The Has Hit Version

2 0 Is Now Available For The iPhone The Google Search App For The Has Hit Version Image
The Google search app for the iPhone has hit version 2.0 and it now features a completely redesigned UI, full screen search and more. If you are ever asked to look up something online, it is more than likely that you will turn to Google. The Google search app is a popular free installation in iOS and this app has now been updated rather significantly to version 2.0.

The new Google Search app has had a complete visual redesign and there are some great new features that optimize and enhance what is already a great app. As with all updates there are some major speed improvements which means that the Google Search app now works at double the speed. Version 2.0 also brings auto full screen and all you need to do is slide your finger down to hide controls or scroll back up to reveal them once again. Full screen is also available with the image search and this means that you get more pixels per image too.

There is a little bit of gesture thrown in also with the brand new ability to swipe away webpages that you no longer need. This allows you to quickly return to your search results if you need to. Like most desktop browsers, with the new Google Search 2.0 you can now search for words or parts of words within any webpage by using the built in text finder.

You can also access your favorite Google apps right from the search such as Gmail, Calendar and Dcos and you also have the ability to save images straight to the camera roll which has been implemented for both iPhone and iPad users.

The new Google Search version 2.0 app is available free of charge from iTunes and is well worth the download.

In April Ralph Lauren Launched An iPhone

In April Ralph Lauren Launched An iPhone Image

Mobile Marketer has awarded Ralph Lauren (RL) their 2009 Mobile Marketer of the Year identifying that, "RL serves as a role model for outstanding use of mobile advertising and marketing." Here is an overview of the 2009 brand in the mobile space.

IN-APP ADVERTISING

Ralph Lauren was the launch sponsor of GQ magazine's new mobile application in an effort to promote the retailer's fragrances. GQ Style Picks, the application for the iPhone and iPod touch, features style tips and options from the men's magazine and a geotracked "click-to-find nearby" and a "click-to-find online" commerce option. Ralph Lauren even has a channel within the application that includes tips and videos. The Ralph Lauren channel within the GQ application includes helpful grooming and fragrance tips such as how to moisturize the face, fragrance picks and downloadable videos.

MOBILE COMMERCE STRATEGY

THE RUGBY MAKE-YOUR-OWN-APPLICATION IS TRULY SOMETHING UNIQUE IN TERMS OF THE EXPERIENCE THAT IT PROVIDES USERS. THE APPLICATION WAS A FIRST OF ITS KIND WITHIN THE RALPH LAUREN FAMILY OF INNOVATIVE LIFESTYLE MARKETING. CONSUMERS CAN MAKE THEIR OWN RUGBY DIRECTLY FROM THEIR IPHONE OR IPOD TOUCH AND SHARE THE STYLE AND BUY IT. CONSUMERS CAN CUSTOMIZE THEIR OWN RUGBY WITH PATCHES, SHARE AND ORDER THEIR RUGBY STYLES WITHIN THE APPLICATION. THE APPLICATION FOLLOWED THE SUCCESSFUL LAUNCHES OF HTTP://WWW.RUGBY.COM AND HTTP://M.RUGBY.COM AND IS MEANT TO SERVE AS A 360-DEGREE RETAIL INNOVATION PLATFORM THAT ENGAGES WITH CONSUMERS THROUGH MOBILE, IN-STORE KIOSKS AND OUTDOOR DISPLAY CONTENT IN STORE WINDOWS, AND ONLINE.

Also, Rugby stores in New York and San Francisco have an interactive store window where pedestrians walking the streets are encouraged to stop and create their own Rugby or browse the gallery of Rugby's created by users of the iPhone application. Much like the iPhone experience, users just drag and drop by swiping their hands over the store window and can buy Rugby's by swiping their credit cards. In April, Ralph Lauren launched an iPhone-optimized site for Rugby.com, the site for its sporty line of Rugby apparel. Like the existing WAP site that is optimized for all other mobile devices, the iPhone site lets consumers browse and buy all products that are available on Rugby.com.

MOBILE PRESENCE

Ralph Lauren has a mobile shopping site at http://m.ralphlauren.com where consumers can shop on the site, read about what is new at Ralph Lauren and watch runway show videos of the brand's latest styles. Last October, Ralph Lauren made mobile fashionable with the launch of an iPhone application that lets users experience the glamour of the Ralph Lauren Collection on the Apple device. The application invites Apple iPhone users to view collection styles that are currently in stores via video highlights from its runway show. It also offers a look behind the scenes with its Backstage Pass photo gallery in addition to full run-of-show video and Lookbook feature. Mobile advertising was also used to drive consumers to the application. Four months after its launch, the application was upgraded with new features that reflect Ralph Lauren's haute couture line and products reflecting a luxury lifestyle.

QUICK RESPONSE (QR) CODES

Ralph Lauren was one of the first retailers to launch a mobile commerce service to let consumers buy products through their handsets. The company claims to be one of the first luxury retailers nationwide to launch a mobile commerce site and incorporate Quick Response codes in advertisements. Ralph Lauren included a QR code on a U.S. Open advertising campaign. If scanned by a mobile phone, the code would link a user directly to a new mobile site. This is the U.S. Open call to action:

ONGOING COMMUNICATIONS

Ralph Lauren invites consumers to sign up for text alerts on its mobile site in an effort to build a database of the brand's aficionados to keep ongoing communication with Additionally, consumers can text the keyword RL to 23000 to join the mobile club.

Ralph Lauren understands the times we live in - and the wants and needs of its consumers. And, in this day and age, for Ralph Lauren that means having a robust set of mobile offerings and being present in the lives of their consumers. Congratulations to Ralph Lauren on receiving this honor.

Nokia Files Patent For Haptic Feedback Tattoo

Nokia Files Patent For Haptic Feedback Tattoo Image
In the future, a sticker or tattoo with magnetic ink could alert you to incoming texts. "Photo: Nokia"

Not content with making smartphones that simply vibrate, Nokia is looking at tattoos with magnetic ink to alert you to incoming phone calls.

Discovered by Unwired View, Nokia's Haptic Communication patent describes an electronic device, probably your smartphone, that generates a magnetic field that stimulates ferromagnetic ink that's been stamped, tattooed, or taped to skin. The ink's reaction creates perceivable stimuli that responds to digital content on the smartphone.

Translation: Notifications on a smartphone will trigger a vibration in the magnetic ink attached to your body. A text could trigger a specific vibration pattern, while a voicemail could trigger another.

Smartphones, like the iPhone, already feature specific vibration patterns for specific features. Adding an additional element to the mix could potentially allow for enhanced notifications that can't be perceived when your phone is vibrating in your pocket. For example, a phone stored in a purse or book bag could send notifications to users without an audio alert.

While the patent frequently uses the term tattoo, it's unlikely most Nokia users would get inked just so their latest Nokia smartphone could announce the arrival of a text message. Then again, there's always a chance Nokia could be poking around for its own Zune Tattoo Guy.

iPhone Os Version History iOS Temporarily Hide Mailcalendar Account At Will

iPhone Os Version History iOS Temporarily Hide Mailcalendar Account At Will Image
I have (somewhat reluctantly) configured my iPhone to receive my work email. This account uses Exchange (Active Sync). But when I'm home on the weekends or away on vacation I really, REALLY do not want to have my work email in my face.

The solution? Go into the iPhone's "Settings Mail, Contacts, Calendars [Email Account]" And turn 'Mail' Off. All of that account's email mailboxes disappear from my iPhone, never to alert me of what I have coming to me on Monday morning. But when I turn it back on, it's all right there - right where I left off. Very handy.

The same can be done for Calendars. I have not tested it with Contacts, but that may work, too.

[CRARKO ADDS: This works with any system where the primary data repository resides on the server; Exchange, IMAP, CalDAV. Just be patient while the app resynchronizes the data. I've use this as a troubleshooting technique, but this hint is also a clever idea.]

iPhone Jonathan Ive Apples Goal Is To Design And Make Better Products

iPhone Jonathan Ive Apples Goal Is To Design And Make Better Products Image
Apple's Senior Vice President of Design, Jony Ive is the man who put form to everything from the iMac to the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. He's given a rare interview to the "Evening Standard" where he comments on everything from his recent knighthood to Apple's conceptual process.

Q: Why has Apple's competition struggled to do that?

A: Most of our competitors are interested in doing something different, or want to appear new - I think those are completely the wrong goals. A product has to be genuinely better. This requires real discipline, and that's what drives us - a sincere, genuine appetite to do something that is better.

Ive also comments on the importance of prototyping and the physicality of objects.

Q: How does a new product come about at Apple?

A: What I love about the creative process, and this may sound naive, is this idea that one day there is no idea, and no solution, but then the next day there is an idea. Where you see the most dramatic shift is when you transition from an abstract idea to a slightly more material conversation. But when you make a 3D model, however crude, you bring form to a nebulous idea and everything changes - the entire process shifts. It galvanises and brings focus from a broad group of people. It's a remarkable process.

Throughout the interview he keeps hitting on "better" and "focus", and believes consumers can tell the difference.

Check out the link below to read the interview in it's entirety, and for more, the video from the movie "Objectified", where Ive comments on similar ideas.

Apple Inc iPhone 4s Vs Samsung Galaxy S2

Apple Inc iPhone 4s Vs Samsung Galaxy S2 Image
The two latest gadgets Apple's iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S II are now in the market. You must be anxious to know about the features and all the apps which you can get in these two most wonderful gadgets. Here is the best comparison between these two gadgets so that you may select the best asper your requirement.

THE DESIGN AND LOOK :

The Samsung Galaxy S II has a dimension of 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.5 mm and the iPhone 4S has 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3 mm which makes the Samsung Galaxy S II look slimmer, bigger and larger than the iPhone 4S. if you talk about the weight of both these gadgets, iPhone 4S weighs 140 grams whereas the Samsung Galaxy S II has a total weight of 113 grams which makes the pocket look a bit lighter. The body of Samsung Galaxy S II is made of plastic in comparison to the glass and metal body of iPhone 4S but both of these handsets look very elegant, stylish and worthy.

The look of Samsung Galaxy S II is pretty much different to its earlier version Samsung Galaxy S whereas the iPhone 4S looks pretty much alike to its earlier version iPhone 4.

SCREEN :

The iPhone 4S has a screen of 3.5 inches with resolution of 640960. The other handset, Samsung Galaxy S II, has a bigger screen of 4.3 inches with WVGA resolution of 800480. If you compare both the screens in terms of quality, you will find Samsung Galaxy S II much better than iPhone 4S. The bigger screen and the better resolution of Samsung Galaxy S II make it a winner.

HARDWARE :

The hardware is the heart of any handset. It is important to know the efficiency and quality of the hardware. The iPhone 4S has A5 SoC with CortexA9 dual core. This system runs at a very powerful PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU. The Samsung Galaxy S II is powered by Exynos 4210 SoC with 1.2 GHz Cortex - A9. This is a dual core processor with ARM- Mali 400MP GPU.

In this care, the Samsung Galaxy S II wins the race with its powerful GPU and dual core processor. Its hardware is much better than the iPhone4S and so you can trust its hardware without any doubt.

CAMERA :

The camera installed in iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S II is of 8 MP along with LED flash. The only difference in the camera is that the aperture size of the camera in iPhone 4s is of 2.4 whereas the aperture size of the camera in Samsung Galaxy S II is 2.65. The iPhone 4S has a face recognition feature which makes it a good camera. However, if you want good and clear pictures in low light, you can trust upon iPhone 4S very easily as it can give you clear pictures in bad light or during night. The videos of iPhone 4S are also much better than the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Definitely both the handsets have different features which cannot be compared; it is very difficult to make a clear cut decision about the winner.
