White iPhone 4 Production Delays Until Year End

Apple has announced today in a press release that they are continue to face challenges in manufacturing of the White iPhone 4 model, and due to this the iPhone 4 White model will not be available until later this year. However, Apple has already earlier announced in a press conference that White iPhone 4 shipping will start in the end of July. Apple has released a statement in press release about the delay of White iPhone 4 models: CUPERTINO, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — White models of Apple’ new iPhone4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected. The Cupertino, Calif., company states that availability of black iPhone 4 models will not be affected due to this delay and customers can purchase and order black iPhone 4 as like before, the sale of which started in June. However, last week it was reported that the white models might be delayed upon color issues. A worker from Lens quality control department has allegedly admitted that the company’s screen-printing workshop may currently be dealing with some issues with the white iPhone 4 covers. Now it seems that the news to come true. So, the fans of Apple products have to wait more for the White iPhone 4 models.

White Iphone 4 Delays Again Not Available Until Next Spring

Apple has delayed White iPhone 4 again and stated that it will not be released until spring 2011. However, there is no reason explained for the delay. The information came to Reuters from a representative from the Apple on Tuesday that White iPhone 4 is delayed again. In July Apple has announced in a press conference that White iPhone 4 will be available by year end. Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said that “We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone again”. She didn’t provide any cause for the delay. There are many that believe that after 3 years the iPhone is ready for a more extensive design upgrade, although we do believe that Apple will not be looking to change the iPhone too much. Then again Apple is known for pushing the boundaries for design and usability, usually in a positive direction, so it will be very interesting to see what they might do with the coming iPhone 4G in terms of design upgrades. We believe that we could at least expect to see a slimmer and ligher iPhone 4G. Release date for iPhone 4G It is rumoured that the iPhone 4G could see a release as early as May or June this year, while it is still expected that the unit will be officially announced at the WWDC this coming summer, just like the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS was announced around that time, and we know that Apple likes to stick to their upgrade schedule. Doubled battery life, OLED screen, and dual core processor With more competitors launching in the last few months, not to mention recently with the Google Nexus One, it is expected that Apple will be including a better OLED based screen with a higher resolution on the iPhone 4G. The current iPhone 3GS features a 320x480 display, while it is becoming more and more common for smartphones/superphones to feature 480x800 displays. Putting a dual core processor into the iPhone 4G would also improve processing speed, and allow for more efficient use and process handling, something that again could result in improved battery life, which is an issue with the current iPhone models. It is rumoured that the device might have double the battery life of the current iPhone, and possibly even a replaceable battery, although we don’t quite believe it until we see it knowing Apple’s track record in that area. 5 megapixel camera, LED flash, and video calling An improved camera is pretty much given for the iPhone 4G as the current models are some way behind many of the competitors in that area already. With the rumors that the iPhone 4G will feature a 5 megapixel camera, same as the Google Nexus One, comes also the rumours that it will feature LED flash following news that Apple is looking to buy a lot of LED flash camera components. Perhaps even more interesting are the rumours that it will not only feature an improved 5 megapixel camera, but that it will also get a forward facing camera for video calling, possibly a camera similar to what is currently used on the 5th generation iPod Nano. Video calling is big in the Asian market, an area where the iPhone has serious competition from amongst other Samsung. Multitasking with background app processing This is a feature that many were expecting with the launch of the iPhone 3GS but that just did not happen. Now the topic has resurfaced with rumors that Apple has finally been able to crack the issue and will be able to at least offer limited multitasking for selected apps and features. The importance of multitasking for iPhone 4G can amongst other be seen by how the Palm Pre has been focusing on this feature in their advertising, targeting the iPhone especially.

Apple Opting Out Of Environmental Ranking System Forum For The Future

The UK carrier O2 is working with a sustainability advisory group to put the ranking system together. It’s called the Forum for the Future, and it rates everything you might expect, and how it impacts the environment. Rating things like packaging, manufacturing, whether it can be recycled or not, and energy efficiency, among other things. Devices are scored in a zero to 5 system, and there are 63 questions that are “asked” when each device is being ranked. As you might expect, other major manufacturers are jumping on board. Companies like Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson have already provided handsets for the ranking system. And O2 is actually making a good start, as 93 percent of their handsets currently available for purchase should be covered in the ranking system soon enough. Which is exactly why it’s strange that the iPhone isn’t included in the list. Another manufacturer that’s not present currently is the Canada-based Research in Motion, which manufactures BlackBerry handsets. However, RIM has stated that they will allow their devices to be ranked by early 2011. In a move that may or may not be surprising for most people, when Apple was asked about their position on the new environmental ranking system, the spokesperson said nothing about it directly. Instead, they would rather you look at their own environmental tests, which they publicly release on their website. Apple suggests that the iPhone has a very minimal footprint on the environment. Organizations like Greenpeace have scolded Apple in the past for not being transparent enough in this regard, so this probably won’t help that picture at all.

There are many rumors for the delay for White iPhone 4 to be available. Now, the information is coming that the cause behind White iPhone 4 is due to malfunctioning of its proximity sensor. The proximity sensor of White iPhone 4 was able to transmit signal but was not able to receive them properly. It is being fixed now and White iPhone 4 is anticipated to be available by year end before Christmas. The story goes like this. Initially, the White iPhone 4 didn’t allow infrared sensor to transmit and receive signal properly. So, designers decided to apply small holes on top of iPhone 4, just above the speaker. Soon it was realized that the holes can be seen clearly from the sensor and they decided to apply a metallic film which reproduced the same color of the edges of the iPhone. In initial testing it was discovered that this film which is opaque from front and metallic from back can transmit signal properly. But it was bit late when they discovered that there was problem in receiving signals which led to proximity sensor malfunctioning and the production has to be postponed to a later date. It is also being informed that the engineers have found the solution and tested successfully by keeping the back of the film opaque and front is formed by many small metal dots which allow sending and receiving signals correctly. TomTom has finally released pricing for its iPhone car cradle, which is due for release next month. You can expect to lay down $120 when you go to pick up your cradle. That price doesn't include the TomTom turn-by-turn iPhone software, which will add an additional $99 to your purchase price, if you haven't already downloaded it. So, that means that--at the end of the day--your pockets will be $220 lighter for the whole app and cradle kit, which is only about $20 more than we initially predicted. Griffin Partydock Lets Up To Four Players Play A Game On The Iphone

The dock is called the PartyDock and it has four wireless controllers that can be used with compatibly PartyDock games. The dock will have a free app that has three of the mini games to get folks started. Those games are apparently called Midway Motors, Fishing Frenzy, and Flippin’ Frogs. There will be more games that come later and presumably, some of them will be paid apps. The dock can also be hooked to an external monitor if you are wondering how exactly four people will crowd around that small iPhone screen. The good news is that the dock will also work with the iPad as well. The price and launch date of the device is unknown.

Editor’s Note: The Blueant Supertooth 3 has been out for over two years now, but it’s still a very popular model, and we’re going to take the time to review it. If you always were jealous of those people who had bluetooth-speakerphone functionality built into their car, the Blueant Supertooth 3 Visor Speakerphone will give you a chance to emulate that. It’s a small black unit that clips onto your car’s visor, with buttons for ‘send’, ‘end’ and volume adjustment. When we tried pairing it up, it worked pretty flawlessly. A voice guided us through setup (including language selection), and downloaded our phone’s contact list to the unit. On the audio side, not only did it recognize our voice commands to accept calls, but it also read out (via text-to-speech) our caller id’s. The Supertooth 3 works quite well for a handsfree solution. Audio is very loud (you may want to turn it down!), fairly clear (the other user will be able to tell you’re on speakerphone), and it fits snugly on your sunvisor. It’ll last awhile too…Blueant states it has 15 hours of talktime, and 800 hours of standbye time. GOOD: As far as handsfree units go, it does what it states, clear audio on both ends (though the user will know you’re on a speaker), the voice recognition commands work well, and the thing is *loud*. Finally, at around a $100USD price point, it’s also a good deal. BAD: While the calls come in clear, and the person at the other end can hear you…the noise cancellation technology could of been a bit better (it’s not on par with Jawbone’s or Plantronic’s headset offerings). New Iphone And Ipad App Lets You Search Inside Local Restaurants

EveryScape, a startup working to create visual guides for local search, is today rolling out its Eats application for iPhone and iPad to users in the Seattle, San Francisco and SoHo areas. The application takes mobile users inside nearby restaurants for a more up-close and personal search experience. Using Eats, application users can essentially explore the interior of local restaurants in a virtual walk-a-round fashion, similar in style to Google Streetview for mobile, but infinitely more practical for would-be restaurant diners. Eats also includes visual search options, social sharing features and filters for users to find restaurants by location, price or rating. The EveryScape custom-built technology powering Eats is capable of transforming photo stills into three dimensional, user-controlled internal store tours. The application is designed to further the connection between patron and business owner, and business owners can use the service to customize their venue information. EveryScape is also announcing today the private beta release of its mobile SDK, making available its collection of visual restaurant guides to select iPhone and iPad developers. The Eats mobile application will be rolled out to New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C. in the months ahead. In many ways, Eats is like a next generation version of Yelp for mobile. Interestingly enough, Google may also be experimenting with a similar idea to enhance its Streetview product.
