Facebook App Center Curates Apps For iPhone And Android Users Yesterday

Facebook App Center Curates Apps For iPhone And Android Users Yesterday Image

Yesterday, Facebook announced the launch of its new curated App Center that'll let Facebook users find iOS or Android apps quickly and easily. The App Center will give users personalized recommendations and let them see apps their friends use. You can see a brief screencast of the App Center here.

Given that app discovery is one of the biggest sticking points for new iOS device owners, and that Facebook owns a huge share of Internet users' online time and attention, this new marquee for apps might turn out to be another major promotional venue for app developers.

Facebook users with an iOS or Android device can browse a catalog of mobile apps compatible with their phone or tablet, once the App Center rolls out into Facebook's mobile version.

The desktop version of the App Center also has a new "Send to Mobile" feature that'll install apps on a user's mobile device (via the appropriate App Store or Google Play link). Apps featured at launch will include Draw Something, Pinterest, Nike+ GPS, and games such as Jetpack Joyride, Ghosts of Mistwood, and Ghost Recon Commander.

The App Center is rolling out in the US now and will launch with more than 600 social apps.

The Next iPhone Is Assumed To Debut In The Fall Of This Year

The Next iPhone Is Assumed To Debut In The Fall Of This Year Image
A series of pictures have surfaced that claim to show parts of the next iPhone in both black and white colors (iPhone 5, iPhone 6, call it what you want). The most notable images are of the rear shell of the alleged next-gen iPhone, where the Apple logo and "iPhone" tag are printed, and show what looks like an all new aluminum unibody construction. The device also appears to have sufficient room to accommodate the larger 4 display that has been heavily rumored.

The images were obtained and published by 9to5mac apparently from supply chain sources, though the machine cut lines shown inside the shell could indicate these are prototype pieces and may not precisely resemble the final shipping device.

Other notable features shown in the photos are a smaller power adapter port at the bottom of the device, redesigned speaker grills, and the headphone jack appears to have been moved to the bottom of the device.

The redesigned enclosure and 4 screen fit nicely within our recent list of likely rumors about iPhone 5, other expected features include 4G LTE support, a faster processor with more RAM, iOS 6, and a better camera.

The next iPhone is assumed to debut in the fall of this year, sometime in the September or October timeframe.

2 0 Is Now Available For The iPhone The Google Search App For The Has Hit Version Image
The Google search app for the iPhone has hit version 2.0 and it now features a completely redesigned UI, full screen search and more. If you are ever asked to look up something online, it is more than likely that you will turn to Google. The Google search app is a popular free installation in iOS and this app has now been updated rather significantly to version 2.0.

The new Google Search app has had a complete visual redesign and there are some great new features that optimize and enhance what is already a great app. As with all updates there are some major speed improvements which means that the Google Search app now works at double the speed. Version 2.0 also brings auto full screen and all you need to do is slide your finger down to hide controls or scroll back up to reveal them once again. Full screen is also available with the image search and this means that you get more pixels per image too.

There is a little bit of gesture thrown in also with the brand new ability to swipe away webpages that you no longer need. This allows you to quickly return to your search results if you need to. Like most desktop browsers, with the new Google Search 2.0 you can now search for words or parts of words within any webpage by using the built in text finder.

You can also access your favorite Google apps right from the search such as Gmail, Calendar and Dcos and you also have the ability to save images straight to the camera roll which has been implemented for both iPhone and iPad users.

The new Google Search version 2.0 app is available free of charge from iTunes and is well worth the download.

White iPhone 4 Production Delays Until Year End

White iPhone 4 Production Delays Until Year End Cover Apple has announced today in a press release that they are continue to face challenges in manufacturing of the White iPhone 4 model, and due to this the iPhone 4 White model will not be available until later this year. However, Apple has already earlier announced in a press conference that White iPhone 4 shipping will start in the end of July. Apple has released a statement in press release about the delay of White iPhone 4 models: CUPERTINO, Calif., July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — White models of Apple’ new iPhone4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected. The Cupertino, Calif., company states that availability of black iPhone 4 models will not be affected due to this delay and customers can purchase and order black iPhone 4 as like before, the sale of which started in June. However, last week it was reported that the white models might be delayed upon color issues. A worker from Lens quality control department has allegedly admitted that the company’s screen-printing workshop may currently be dealing with some issues with the white iPhone 4 covers. Now it seems that the news to come true. So, the fans of Apple products have to wait more for the White iPhone 4 models.

Is White Iphone 4 Canceled

Is White Iphone 4 Canceled Cover Today we reported that Apple has announced that the White iPhone 4 is delayed until spring next year. But now rumors are there that Apple has cancelled the release of White iPhone 4 and yet has revealed the information. The report has come from internal sources from BGR that Apple has no plans to release the White iPhone 4. They exactly state that: According to a previous source of ours, we have been told that Apple in fact has no plans to release the white model iPhone 4. Our source hypothesizes another “delay” communicated around March leading us into an iPhone 5 release time-frame in June / July. Today some new rumors were emerging stating “the light leaking into the iPhone and affecting the performance of the device’s camera” as the delay cause. Now BGR also reports that there is something other than a manufacturing issue for the delay in the model to release and Apple is completely dismissing the iPhone 4 White models. This seems to be true, as Apple is announcing delay again and again. And in June / July Apple will also come up with iPhone 5. Of course, if you have White iPhone 5 in front, why would one buy White iPhone 4? Hope the White iPhone 5 is free from all such issues. Now, we should stop hoping for White iPhone 4 and just pray for perfect White iPhone 5 models. You can follow us on twitter or facebook to be updated on all the latest on Apple and its products.

4th Generation Iphone 4g Rumour Central Iphone 4 Announced

4th Generation Iphone 4g Rumour Central Iphone 4 Announced Cover Apple has now officially announced and presented the world with the Apple iPhone 4 at the WWDC 2010 and we have had a look at all the iPhone 4 features; what is new and what has been delivered as expected based on all the rumours that we have kept you up to date on in this article. You can still see and read all the rumours around the 4th generation iPhone below. Latest news and rumours - iPhone 4 parts caught on videoToday we came across two videos posted on iPhone Portugal blog that appear to be videos of parts for the iPhone 4G / iPhone HD. According to the site they purchased the frames from China, so we are not talking about another “lost” iPhone 4 prototype like the one that Gizmodo got their hands on a while back. Since we are talking about frames for the iPhone 4 it is difficult to say if we are talking about the real deal on these videos, but the similarity with the earlier prototype leads many experts around the web to lean towards this being the real deal. You can see the iPhone 4 frame videos here. iPhone 4 ready for shipment According to the latest rumours the 4th generation iPhone HD is being prepared for shipment in June, with an expected 24 million units to ship in 2010. The same sources also talks about a 4th gen iPhone HD with double the RAM to 512mb and a 960x640 screen resolution. Improved battery life is also expected as the screen is made thinner to provide more space for a larger battery. It is also rumoured that the 4th generation iPhone HD will be made available with a white front panel, another first for the iPhone that until has only been available with a white back panel. Images of prototype iPhone 4th generation Someone was lucky enough to stumble across what seems so far to be a genuine iPhone 4th generation prototype, featuring a new and interesting design, a forward facing camera as well as an improved regular camera with LED Flash, and a smaller screen with a much improved resolution. So why do so many believe this is the genuine thing(R) Well, it has got a distinct Apple finish to it, and it is packed with components marked with Apple. When connected to a computer, even iTunes identify it as an iPhone, and apparently Apple has reported a prototype lost and would like it back asap. Read more and see the images of iPhone 4th generation prototype Cheapest iPhone to date Analysts from Morgan Stanley has also started to show interest in what could be next for the Apple iPhone, predicting that the 4th generation iPhone 4G could be the cheapest to date in terms of overall cost ownership (cost of handset, mobile contract, and usage) and feature the latest technology. It is expected that the iPhone 4G will be cheaper to operate to both secure increased penetration in mature markets in the US and UK, as well as seeking to increase penetration in the important markets in the east, including the Chinese market. Find out more about iPhone 4G being cheapest iPhone to date. Video calling coming to iPhone 4G The new iPhone 3.2 SDK has been dissected and some of the findings indicate that Apple is preparing future devices, including the iPhone 4G for possible video calling. The icons and information found in the new SDK are good news for all those that have been longing for video calling and video chatting capabilities on their favourite Apple gadgets, including the iPhone and the new Apple iPad. Again, these are just findings and who knows when compatible devices will be made available, but it is a good sign at least. References to iPhone 4G found in 3.2 SDK According to recent revelations by Engadget, there are references to a device with the code N89, which is believed to be the 4th generation iPhone 4G, in the recently released iPhone 3.2 SDK and the firmware 3.1.3 upgrade that has come in the wake of the Apple iPad launch. Earlier versions of the iPhone has been referenced as N82 and N88. At the moment this rumour does not reveal anything new about the features and technical specs of the iPhone 4G itself, but it possibly confirms what is expected to be a mid-year launch of what Steve Jobs have referred to as a “Grade A+ upgrade” for the iPhone. The same firmware upgrade also had references to what is believed to be the 4th generation iPod Touch G4 with code name N80. iPhone 4G to feature Apple A4 chip In the aftermath of the Apple iPad launch there has been many rumours that the iPhone 4G will receive the same fast Apple A4 chip that was revelaed in the iPad. If this is the case it should based on reports significantly increase the speed of the iPhone as well as potentially improve battery life, both of which is very welcomed improvements from the iPhone community. Magic Mouse touch sensitive casing According to a Goldman Sachs analyst the iPhone 4G will have a Magic Mouse like casing, meaning the device will have a new plastic touch-sensitive casing. There are many that believe that after 3 years the iPhone is ready for a more extensive design upgrade, although we do believe that Apple will not be looking to change the iPhone too much. Then again Apple is known for pushing the boundaries for design and usability, usually in a positive direction, so it will be very interesting to see what they might do with the coming iPhone 4G in terms of design upgrades. We believe that we could at least expect to see a slimmer and ligher iPhone 4G. Release date for iPhone 4G It is rumoured that the iPhone 4G could see a release as early as May or June this year, while it is still expected that the unit will be officially announced at the WWDC this coming summer, just like the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS was announced around that time, and we know that Apple likes to stick to their upgrade schedule. Doubled battery life, OLED screen, and dual core processor With more competitors launching in the last few months, not to mention recently with the Google Nexus One, it is expected that Apple will be including a better OLED based screen with a higher resolution on the iPhone 4G. The current iPhone 3GS features a 320x480 display, while it is becoming more and more common for smartphones/superphones to feature 480x800 displays. Putting a dual core processor into the iPhone 4G would also improve processing speed, and allow for more efficient use and process handling, something that again could result in improved battery life, which is an issue with the current iPhone models. It is rumoured that the device might have double the battery life of the current iPhone, and possibly even a replaceable battery, although we don’t quite believe it until we see it knowing Apple’s track record in that area. 5 megapixel camera, LED flash, and video calling An improved camera is pretty much given for the iPhone 4G as the current models are some way behind many of the competitors in that area already. With the rumors that the iPhone 4G will feature a 5 megapixel camera, same as the Google Nexus One, comes also the rumours that it will feature LED flash following news that Apple is looking to buy a lot of LED flash camera components. Perhaps even more interesting are the rumours that it will not only feature an improved 5 megapixel camera, but that it will also get a forward facing camera for video calling, possibly a camera similar to what is currently used on the 5th generation iPod Nano. Video calling is big in the Asian market, an area where the iPhone has serious competition from amongst other Samsung. Multitasking with background app processing This is a feature that many were expecting with the launch of the iPhone 3GS but that just did not happen. Now the topic has resurfaced with rumors that Apple has finally been able to crack the issue and will be able to at least offer limited multitasking for selected apps and features. The importance of multitasking for iPhone 4G can amongst other be seen by how the Palm Pre has been focusing on this feature in their advertising, targeting the iPhone especially.

Apple Opting Out Of Environmental Ranking System Forum For The Future

Apple Opting Out Of Environmental Ranking System Forum For The Future Cover The UK carrier O2 is working with a sustainability advisory group to put the ranking system together. It’s called the Forum for the Future, and it rates everything you might expect, and how it impacts the environment. Rating things like packaging, manufacturing, whether it can be recycled or not, and energy efficiency, among other things. Devices are scored in a zero to 5 system, and there are 63 questions that are “asked” when each device is being ranked. As you might expect, other major manufacturers are jumping on board. Companies like Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson have already provided handsets for the ranking system. And O2 is actually making a good start, as 93 percent of their handsets currently available for purchase should be covered in the ranking system soon enough. Which is exactly why it’s strange that the iPhone isn’t included in the list. Another manufacturer that’s not present currently is the Canada-based Research in Motion, which manufactures BlackBerry handsets. However, RIM has stated that they will allow their devices to be ranked by early 2011. In a move that may or may not be surprising for most people, when Apple was asked about their position on the new environmental ranking system, the spokesperson said nothing about it directly. Instead, they would rather you look at their own environmental tests, which they publicly release on their website. Apple suggests that the iPhone has a very minimal footprint on the environment. Organizations like Greenpeace have scolded Apple in the past for not being transparent enough in this regard, so this probably won’t help that picture at all.

Hasbro Plans 3d Goggles For Your Iphone

Hasbro Plans 3d Goggles For Your Iphone Cover If you’ve ever wanted to view 3D content on your iPhone or iPod touch, Hasbro has you covered. The toy-maker has just unveiled its newest creation, My3D, a pair of 3D glasses with a slot for an iPhone or iPod touch. It promises to deliver 3D content and 360-degree gaming. The Associated Press reports that the device is expected to retail for $30 and will be available in the spring. As CNET notes, the device has the appearance of a View-Master, but it’s targeted at both kids and adults. The AP reports that Hasbro was “guided by Apple during the development” of the product; 3D devices and add-ons have a lot of potential, but in the home setting, it becomes a question of available and valuable content. According to the AP, Hasbro says it is working with Dreamworks Animation to develop material. Dreamworks Animation has a number of successful 3D animated hits under its belt — including the recently released Megamind. Hasbro also says it will use content from 3D TV networks like the Discovery Channel and other content from Sony and IMAX. Other partnerships include the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, where 3D travel experiences are being created. The appeal for movie and television studios seems pretty clear — this is a way to promote upcoming 3D content in theaters or give users a taste of 3D entertainment at home. The bigger question, however, is if there is enough of a lure for consumers to purchase this sort of content and device — and just as importantly, if this is attractive to app developers. Creating 3D content isn’t inexpensive and that’s one of the hurdles that non-video content creators continue to face. For something like My3D to succeed, there need to be games and content that goes beyond advertisements for feature films. It’ll be interesting to see if Hasbro can pull this off. The $30 price point certainly puts My3D in the “why not?” purchase category. Now let’s just see if it can go beyond mere novelty.

Meet The New Beatbox Speaker Dock And Other Products

Meet The New Beatbox Speaker Dock And Other Products Cover At an event last week in New York that i was supposed to attend Monster Beats and Dr Dre released their new Beats by Dre 2010 product line up that will complement an already strong portfolio of headphones. Beats by Dre has quickly become one of the most sought after headphones in the market today, much thanks to the quality of the products, and the celebrity line up that they have promoting the products. It is not only renowned producer and musician Dr Dre that is behind these products, as there are also models that feature the names of Diddy, Lady Gaga, and most recently Justin Bieber. Alongside these artists there is a myriad of celebrities that promotes the Beats by Dre line up, including basketball superstars LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. Lets get back to the new Beats by Dre products, which includes 4 new headphones and a an iPod Speaker dock with the fitting name Beatbox. Beats by Dre Beatbox The Beatbox is the first venture into the docking station market for Beats by Dre, and just like with their headphones they are going for the high-end market with a high quality speaker dock that themselves hope will be a game-changer. Beatbox high-end portable audio system features two 5 1/4 inch bass drivers and 2-inch high frequency drivers that combined will deliver a sound worthy of the Beats by Dre stamp. It all sits within a rugged ABS housing and is currently available in black only. At the top you find the docking station itself, as well as a carrying handle which comes in useful for carrying it with you. Overall the style looks very professional. According to Monster and Dr Dre the Beatbox will offer a club-like sound experience in a small package. Suggested US retail price is $450, and in the UK the Beatbox is available for pre-order from Amazon at $470, putting the Beatbox into competition with the likes of B&W Zeppelin and the Bose Sounddock. We have been advised that the system is fully iPod and iPhone compatible speaker dock, but will be back with full review and information once we get a chance to test the new Beatbox. Powerbeats Lebron James Signature headphone Basketball superstar Lebron James have long been a Beats by Dre fan, and now he has got his own signature line in the new Powerbeats performance sports headphones.
