Dispelling The Myth Of iPod Fm Transmitters

Dispelling The Myth Of iPod Fm Transmitters Cover You either love them or hate them, or you're not too bothered either way. However there is a myth about iPod FM transmitters that isn't always the case. The reports of poor quality and constant feedback & interference are not always 100% accurate. If you are comparing them to a fully integrated iPod car system like the Dension gateway 100 CAN then yes FM Transmitters are of a poorer quality and have less features and functionality. However you have to bare in mind the price difference of each product. Your comparing ?30-40 with ?130-?140. or another way of looking at it, a cheaper MP3 player with an iPod. There are obvious differences but this should be expected. The problem with Transmitters is inherent of all transmitters to a certain extent, this is due to how they actually work. Transmission of radio frequencies beans the signal being broadcast from one device to another. In this case the iPod FM transmitter to the radio. The problem occurs when the frequency bands are close to other stronger signals. When this happens you get a bleed of one into the other, resulting in interference and / or distortion. Having said this there are a few ways round the problem but it takes a little experimenting. Firstly try using a frequency which is the furthest away from any strong signal in your area. Secondly select a back up station as far away from the first signal band and pre set to the stereo as well. So if you start to receive interference you can quickly change without much inconvenience. The quality of products you are using is also a factor in the interference problems reported. Generally speaking if you purchase a more recognised product & brand such as the griffin iTrip FM Transmitter you will receive less disturbance than a cheaper Chinese import. So if you want a simple and cost effective solution to listening to your iPod in your car. An FM transmitter is not as bad as some people make out. Choose wisely and set up & test the frequencies any you shouldn't have many problems with them.

Bluetooth Car Kits Are They Really The Safer Alternative

Bluetooth Car Kits Are They Really The Safer Alternative Cover Many studies have been completed, in an attempt to ascertain the safety of using a Mobile phone while driving. The outcome of most, if not all, of these investigations has proven that Mobile phone use is a significant contributor to the likelihood of being involved in a collision. For many, Bluetooth kits are the answer to that problem; the kits allow drivers to keep their hands on the wheel, and their eyes on the road, while having a conversation. But just how safe are these kits? Bluetooth kits allow drivers to keep their hands and eyes focused on the task of driving while using their cell phone. However, the fact remains that while a driver's senses may be focused on the road, a driver's mind will most likely be focused on the phone conversation. Then by extension the driver is not fully concentrating. Therefore, while many Counties and towns are prohibiting the use of Mobile phones while driving, some are also considering banning the use of Bluetooth kits. How much of a distraction is a Bluetooth kit, really? For those who need to use their phones while on the road for business purposes, a Bluetooth kit is a necessity, not a superfluous distraction. As many if not all drivers know distractions can come in many forms. Anyone who has driven with the radio on, or with passengers - especially children - knows that there are other aspects of driving which can be just as distracting, if not more so, than a phone call. A perfect example of this is the Satellite navigation systems on the market today. Many of which are now more detailed than ever before, offering more detailed maps and accurate positioning (Even to the point of the angle of your vehicle on the road). Drivers often rely on these products to navigate around specific areas and motorways. In doing so, often the driver's concentration is on the navigation unit and not the road. So, while the desire to eliminate any unnecessary distractions behind the wheel is a legitimate one, it is unrealistic to think that it is possible to rid drivers of ALL distractions. It is also unrealistic to think that those who use their Mobile phones for business purposes will be willing to give up the ability to talk and drive, equally as with the need to navigate around the counties or country, Despite the potential consequences. As such, a Bluetooth kit is clearly and not only a safer option but a necessary option rather than using a handset while driving.

iPod Car Connection Guide

iPod Car Connection Guide Cover If you’re like me, you spend a lot of your music listening time in the car. The iPod is a perfect companion for long trips, or your daily commute. No doubt, you will want to find the best way to hook up your iPod in your car. Connect: Getting the sound to the head unit and out the speakers. You have four basic options of connecting your iPod to your car stereo. We've compared the different methods based on sound quality, cost and ease of installation, and we'll give you the low-down on each one. Connection type Sound Quality Cost Ease of installation Line Input/Aux in Best $ Very Easy Direct Connection/Integration Best $$$ Harder Cassette Tape Adapter Very Good $ Easy FM Transmitters Good (can vary) $$ Easy Line Input/ Auxillary input jack on stereo Sound quality: Excellent Installion: Very easy Cost: $ Pros: CD quality sound; Plugs right in Cons: Must have an input jack on your car stereo; Still need a car charger This is the simplest option and requires only an inexpensive cable to connect to it. To determine if your car stereo has an “auxillary input” you should see a jack on the front of the stereo head unit that looks very similar to the headphone jack on the iPod. It may be labeled “aux” or “in”. The cable that is required would have a male headphone jack on both sides. This will simply connect the audio output of the iPod directly to the input jack of the stereo. This will not power the iPod, and you will still want a car charger to keep your iPod powered and charged up. This will most likely mean you will have to connect two cables to your iPod, so it can be a little more messy than other options. Also with this type of connection, the volume control on the iPod is still functional, so you will want to adjust it as necessary. On the plus side, the cable required is very inexpensive. Direct Connection / Integration Sound quality: Excellent Installation Harder Cost: $$$ Pros: Control iPod through your stereo; CD quality sound Cons: Must remove stereo to install; Might lose external CD changer function Direct connect iPod integration kits connect to your car stereo directly, usually by connecting through the back of the stereo head unit to another port designed for either an external CD changer, or satellite radio. Kits are available for many factory (original equipment) and aftermarket (for example Sony, Kenwood or Alpine) car stereos. The connection is direct and so the sound quality should be perfectly clear. There are many kits available on the market and they all run special software in the interface that communicates with the car stereo’s head unit and so the head unit thinks it is connected to a compatible CD changer. This allows the stereo to recognize the iPod connection, and enable the CD changer functions on the radio. These boxes are wired between the radio and the iPod and translate the signals between the two devices. You can usually control your iPod from your car stereo, or steering wheel controls if you have them. Some units will even display song title information on the display of the radio, this feature however depends on the capabilities of your radio and the iPod connection kit. In most cases, when they are set to display information on the radio display, it will disable the controls and display on the iPod itself. Besides pristine audio quality, and control and display on the radio, this connection option also usually charges and powers the iPod as well. So with one connection to the DockConnector of the iPod, you will get charging and connecting solutions. Since this type of kit is connected to where your external CD changer normally is connected, if you have an external CD changer it may no longer be used. You would give up your CD changer in exchange for your iPod (to most people this is worth it). If you have a single disc player in the head unit it would continue to function as normal. These kits do need to be installed, and many people choose to bring them to a local car audio specialist to have them professionally installed, but many others do it themselves. Typical installations require the radio to be removed and the box connected and stowed behind the radio. Then the wire that connects to the iPod would be run from behind the dashboard. Other than that, it is a simple plug and play installation. Cassette adapter Sound quality: Very good Installation: Easy Cost: $ Pros: Easy to use; Reliable sound Cons: Must have a cassette tape player in your stereo; Still need a car charger Cassette adapters look just like regular cassette tapes, and transfer signals directly from the iPod’s headphone jack to the heads in your tape player. The sound is usually very good, but definitely varies depending on the quality of the tape adapter. They are an inexpensive and easy solution if your car stereo has a tape player. You will have the audio wire coming out of the tape slot and going to your iPod, and if you want to keep it juiced, you’ll still need a car charger connected to the bottom of your iPod. You may sometimes hear the rattle and hum of the tape mechanism spinning depending on your stereo. FM Transmitters Sound quality: Varies Installation: Easy Cost: $$ Pros: Works with all radios Cons: Must have a clear FM radio frequency available; May get interference from radio broadcasts; limited to FM stereo broadcast quality If direct connect is not an option, either because of its prohibitive cost, or there is no compatibility for your stereo, and your stereo does not have a tape player, your only option may be an FM transmitter (unless you decide to replace your stereo head unit). Look for units that get power from car cigarette lighter. These will keep your iPod charged, and generally output a stronger signal to your car radio resulting in better sound quality and less interference. Some are integrated with chargers, and mounting base. Most iPod FM transmitters have a digital display and can be tuned to any station on the dial. You simply locate a station that does not have anything broadcast on it (an empty spot on the dial) and match the station frequency on the transmitter. Some of the latest FM transmitters also scan the dial and analyze the frequencies to determine the clearest station for you. Transmitters with this feature are usually a little bit more expensive, but may be worth it because they take all of the guesswork out of selecting the clearest station frequency for your iPod. FM transmitters are a good choice if you need a simple solution that won’t require you to connect a bunch of wires, and you live in areas where there aren’t too many competing FM radio stations (so you can find an empty spot on the dial). Mount: Secure your iPod for safety and ease of use You'll want to keep your iPod safe while cruising. You don't want it sliding off the passenger seat, or jumping out of a cupholder when you hit the brakes. What you need is a car mount that fits your car and style the best. There are four basic styles of car mounts. Cup holder mounts Sit in most cup holders, downside is it occupies a cup holder. Vent mounts Vent mounts are great, they work with most horizontal type vents and vents are usually conveniently located within hands reach of the driver. These usually have special clips that are attached to the air conditioner vents, they do not put a lot of weight on the vents though, because there is a leg just underneath the vents that actually provides most of the support for the cradle. Our vent mount also features a swivel so the iPod can be facing the driver or passenger. Windshields mounts Windshield mounts have a suction cup that can be easily attached to your front windshield, and a cradle to secure the iPod. Custom mounts Power: Keep your iPod charged up while on the road Don't get stuck without your tunes. Keep your iPod fully charged while playing it in your car. Car charger Plugs into cigarette lighter for unlimited play time, also keeps your iPod fully charged.

How To Install A Bluetooth Kit Do Things The Easy Way

How To Install A Bluetooth Kit Do Things The Easy Way Cover There are two ways Bluetooth car kits can be installed, one is the difficult way, the other is easier (however can still be fairly difficult dependent on vehicle). The problem is, Bluetooth kits are made with ISO connections as standard. ISO is an older industry standard which determines the locations of various wires (which perform different functions) For example, the front left and right speakers, back left and right, power, mute and ignition. If your vehicle is ISO, then the kits will install fairly easily. The problem is, the ISO standard is now fairly old. More modern vehicles utilise systems such as CAN bus & fibre Optic MOST systems which do not use conventional wires. If this is the case you will either need to splice into the wires (where possible) or use a mute cable, ISO2CAR, Drive&Mute or Audio2Car. They all perform the same task, however each has a slightly different compatibility. For example Audio2Car work particularly well with amplified systems. The only other difficult task when installing the Bluetooth kit is to route the microphone into position. This routes from the back of the Bluetooth unit. Usually installed behind the car stereo. From here its usually best to route the opposite direction from the driver. Remove the glovebox where ever possible (Different for each vehicle, but usually fairly pain free when the screws are found). Remove the fascia from the A pillar in the vehicle, they usually un-clip, however sometimes they are screwed in, if so you should be able to pull out the airbag clip plate (a little plastic clip showing where the air bag is) a screw is usually found beneath this. There may be a couple more hidden screws to remove before the fascia can be removed. A little pull on the rear-view mirror fascia should allow you to install and route wire through the lining of the roof. (Don't pull too hard as you may pull the mirror off, and they can be a pain to reinstall) a metal coat hanger will do nicely when pushing it through. From here wire down the A pillar, avoid the air bags at all costs and do not tangle the wire around them. And route behind the glove box to the Bluetooth unit. After this do done double check you have the Power, Ground (when required) & Ignition wires are active. The Ignition is a must to check, the kits will not work with out it. In fact this is the number one cause for people thinking they have a faulty unit. If your harness doesn't have an ignition (not all do) the best point is either the fusebox, or the Cigarette lighter wire. A simple way of testing is by turning the ignition on when the wires are connected. The unit should power up. Assuming the kit is working tidy up behind the stereo and re connect the dashboard & fascias and position the microphone to exactly where you want it near the mirror (make sure is doesn't obstruct it). Pair your phone using the manufacturers instructions and you will have a fully working Bluetooth car kit at your disposal. (If you choose well, you'll wonder how you ever lived with out one). All in all the job shouldn't take longer than an hour of your time, unless you have a particularly difficult vehicle such as a BMW X5 (Due to the location of the unit) or most Porsche's (Because of the firewall). Bluetooth Car Kits are known to improve driver safety when using the mobile phone, if you don't have one installed in your vehicle. Don't use your phone. If you think this is too difficult contact In Car Installer for advice.

Mobile Phone Convictions Lead To Discounts For Drivers

Mobile Phone Convictions Lead To Discounts For Drivers Cover Here in the UK we've had laws dictating that you are not allowed to use your mobile phone whilst driving for a few years now, by and large most of us abide by this law and either use a Bluetooth car kit or simply don't answer the call! Over in the United State of America they have recently passed a similar law preventing people from using a mobile phone whilst driving too. Obviously much like over here in the UK there have been plenty of instances where police have had to pull over people flaunting this law, and they've received a ticket and probably a fine too. But there is one particular company that seems to suggest that getting one of these tickets isn't necessarily totally a bad thing. As a way to encourage drivers to be safe when driving many Bluetooth headset manufacturers will offer a discount if you get a ticket for operating a cell phone whilst driving. This strange approach has seen many Americans suddenly going out and buying headsets and driving more safely. One such company, Aliph now has a specific page on their website where if you enter your ticket number and the state in which you received your ticket then you can look forward to a $20 discount. This discount is a welcome bonus for the company who makes fashionable minimalist headsets. Bluetooth headsets are fairly common here in the UK with many business types and drivers seen seemingly talking to no one but in fact talking on their mobile phones via a Bluetooth headset. It looks as if Bluetooth headsets may now become one of the latest fashion accessories over in the USA. This can only mean good things for road safety which has already seen the number of minor collisions fall since the law was introduced. Bluetooth headsets don't even have to be expensive extras with some contracts and pay as you go sellers are offering mobile phone deals including a free Bluetooth headset to entice new customers to sign up. Aside from expensive built in Bluetooth kits in your car, having a Bluetooth headset is probably going to be the cheapest solution to communicating on the move. Many headsets offer incredible noise cancellation meaning that the person on the other end will only hear you, not the car radio or the engine roaring.

Choose Between A Wired Or A Bluetooth Car Kit

Choose Between A Wired Or A Bluetooth Car Kit Cover If you do a lot of chatting on the phone while you drive, you should make sure your using a car phone kit. The least you should do is make sure others are safe, even if you don't care for your own well being. For those who are concerned for the health and well being of other road users, there are a lot of options available when buying a car phone kit. With all the different car kits out there, what are the main differences between them and specifically a wired car kit and a Bluetooth kit? Each has distinct advantages and disadvantages which must be considered when choosing which kit to purchase. Wired car kits require the phone to be placed in a cradle upon entering the car. The cradle charges the phone, and calls are routed automatically through the device, and if the device is a hardwired connection to the vehicles head-unit, audio can be heard through your car's speakers. Any actions you want to perform - making, answering, and ending calls, or using menu options - must be done directly from your phone, so it's essential that the cradle is positioned correctly for comfort and convenience. There are also negatives to having a cradle, the cradle will only match 1 phone or in some cases a specific brand. This means you can't use more than one phone, rendering the kit useless if you upgrade phones or if family members or work colleagues have different mobile phones. With a wireless Bluetooth car kit, calls are automatically routed from your phone to a small speaker or through your stereo and car speakers - your phone never has to leave your pocket or purse. The connection is established automatically when you enter your vehicle and start it. Any functions of your phone that you need to use are controlled from the dashboard control unit or via voice command, instead of from your cell phone. Additional benefits of the Bluetooth kits include the extra options available. Including additional inputs including iPod, AUX Mp3 and on some occasions USB. Essentially, if you're on the road for long periods of time and are concerned about phone battery life or you prefer to use your phone to control calls instead of learning to use the dashboard control unit, then the wired kit is probably for you. However, if you like the idea of using the dashboard control panel, or the convenience of not having to place your phone in the cradle when you get in the car, or you like additional music then the wireless kit is a better option. Bluetooth Car Kits are designed to make you life easier and safer. By connecting you phone to the car kit you can safely and legally use you phone while you drive without danger to yourself and other roadusers. Police Crack Down On Phone Driving

Police Crack Down On Phone Driving Cover The Police in the UK are starting a new initiative to crack down on drivers using hand held mobile phones. Latest figures show that the amount of people using a mobile phone while driving has increased over the several years. New figures show the main offenders for the increase are younger drivers aged 17-24 who regularly read and type text messages as well as talking while driving. A recent survey undertaken by Bluetooth Car Kit Direct shows that over 70% of that age group have done so at least once this year, however many do admit to doing it regularly. Many different answers were given when questioned as to why they committed the offense, however the main response from the male section of the group was down to over confidence or the ability to navigate away from a dangerous situation (if one happened). Many of the females questioned pleaded ignorance to the law's in place since 2003 and updated in 2007, stating that they didn't know it was against the law. However the female section did recognize that it was more dangerous to drive while on the phone than when not. The second highest offenders were the group of 25-34 year olds of which 20% admitted to regularly using the mobile phone while driving but did realize that they were breaking the law. Many of this group would only check a text if they were expecting an important message and would usually leave an incoming call unless important. The last group 35-Over very rarely answer calls while driving and virtually never read texts. Only 5% admitted to using the phone illegally while driving this year, however of this age group questioned over half already used a Bluetooth car kit when driving (were discounted from the survey). The rest were unaware of what a Bluetooth car kit was, however were very interested when shown a demonstration of how they worked. Bluetooth car kit direct demonstrated how various Bluetooth car kits worked to everybody questioned in the survey. Everybody thought that all the kits shown were very useful and could see the benefits of having one. A lot of people were also surprised how cheap the kits were and they didn't have an excuse for not using one. John (in the 25-34 age group) stated "The kit i liked was $54.99 that's half the price of a fine from the police and without the 3 points, I'm definitely buying one" The police crack down is due to the large amounts of accidents attended by the police in which a mobile phone was being used. No new powers are being used however police are now more vigilant and are on the look out for phone-drivers. They are also less likely to let the offender off with a warning when caught instead opting for the $90 fine and 3 points. Not only are the bluetooth car kits cheaper, they may also prevent an accident.

Distracted Drivers Working On The Phone At The Wheel

Distracted Drivers Working On The Phone At The Wheel Cover You’re driving to work when your boss calls you up. You answer the phone with your “hands-free” mobile device to find out you need to move the big order up by a week and while the head hancho is giving you specific directions over the phone, your hands are working a mobile e-mail device and you don’t even see the light turn red at the intersection you are approaching. And this is how drivers distracted by their work behind the wheel cause car accidents. Recently, transporation secretary, Ray LaHood, brought to Washington the issue of distracted, working drivers, calling the heightening trend a “deadly epidemic” in America. More and more people are making it so their work is mobile, turning cars into offices, and putting others at risk of personal injury or wrongful death on the road. Our car accident lawyers know that when drivers do not have their full attention on the road that is when accidents are most likely to occur. Even with devices such as Bluetooths, there are too many distractions from technological gadgets that detour drivers from focusing behind the wheel. All it takes is one glance down at your Blackberry to check and e-mail; the next second, a fatal auto accident. Workers argue that with this fast-paced world and an economy that rewards only those who get to the treasure first, it is a necessity for them to be able to work while driving a car. However, there is a growing rate of families who have lost loved ones because of distracted drivers and these families have successfully sued the drivers who caused the car accidents because they were focused more on their work rather than safe driving. You have a choice when you are driving and your work place decides to call you. Either pick it up and put yourself, as well as others, at risk of a car accident. Or, you can make the smart choice and wait until you are safely parked to get down to business. The best policy is to put your phone away when you are at the wheel, however, it is also good to make sure that you are properly covered by your insurance company if and when an auto accident does occur. Call us now at 1-800-655-6585 or click here for a free consultation with an experienced car accident lawyer after you get into a car accident and find out how we can help you. We speak English and Spanish, and we look forward to providing advice for your case. No fee if no recovery.

3 Ways To Safely Use Your iPhone 4 In The Car

3 Ways To Safely Use Your iPhone 4 In The Car Cover One of the top accessories for the iPhone 3G & iPhone 3GS last year was the TomTom iPhone Car Kit. It’s not the cheapest in car solution, but it did a great job of combining a GPS receiver, loud speaker and handsfree system into a compact windscreen holder for the phone. When iPhone 4 came out, we were all looking forward to using Sat Nav on it – mainly because of the faster processor and the ability to leave your Sat Nav running in the background while you take calls or read a text message. You can imagine our disappointment when we realised that the TomTom holder doesn’t work with iPhone 4. When I say it doesn’t work, that’s not strictly true, it will work, but it doesn’t fit the holder very well and it’s likely to fall out. If you’re willing to pay that much for an in car solution, you’re going to want one that holds your phone securely. It’s probably only a matter of time until an updated version comes out that supports iPhone 4 and the upcoming 4th generation iPod touch, but until then there are a number of alternatives that you should consider. I’ve already covered Sat Nav Apps & iPhone Car Docks for iPhone 3G/3GS, but thought I’d take another look at what’s available and review the options to the TomTom kit. I’ve tried a number of different set ups to try and find ones that match the features of the TomTom kit as closely as possible. The results turned out to be very similar to those for the 3GS, but some of the pricing and features have changed. Just as a reminder, the main features of the TomTom Car Cradle are: * Charges your iPhone * Ability to play your music through your car stereo using 3.5mm line in * Built in speaker for handsfree calling * GPS Enhancer * Volume controls * Price for Software & Cradle ?149.99 In most cases, every feature could be matched, with the exception of the added GPS support, but having said that, the antenna has been improved on iPhone 4 and I’m not convinced that it’s all that necessary. I’m also basing this on the next version of the iOS software – version 4.1 as it has full support for AVRCP, the bluetooth profile that allows you to control your music using a third party device, such as headsets, speakers and car kits. Option 1 – Jabra Cruiser * CoPilot Live UK & Ireland ?19.99 * Jabra Cruiser ?69.95 * iPhone 4 Car Pack ?18.47 * Total Cost ?108.41 It’s not all in one like the TomTom, but this set up will save you over ?40! CoPilot Live is a great alternative to TomTom. The software has been updated for iPhone 4 and now supports the Retina Display and Multitasking. Extras like Traffic and Text-To-Speech are available via in app purchase. The iPhone 4 Car Pack includes a secure, rotating windscreen holder for your iPhone 4 and a car charger. If you’ve already tried using GPS on the iPhone in your car, you’ll know necessary a car charger is. Having the screen on permanently and locking on to a GPS signal drains the battery quite quickly. The Jabra Cruiser is one of the best portable car kits available. It has a built in FM transmitter that can stream music, calls and directions from your iPhone 4 through to your car stereo using Bluetooth. It has music controls that allow you to play/pause/track skip without having to touch your phone. Option 2 – Venturi Mini * Navigon MobileNavigator British Isles ?19.99 (iTunes Link) * Venturi Mini ?56.47 * iPhone 4 Car Pack ?18.47 * Total Cost ?94.93 Navigon was the first Sat Nav app for the iPhone, and has recently had a number of new features added and a price cut. The iPhone Car Pack includes a robust, adjustable holder that can hold your iPhone in almost any position as well as a car charger to keep your phone fully charged. The Venturi Mini is a Bluetooth car kit that is designed to fit in your cigarette lighter permanently. You can charge your iPhone 4 by plugging your USB cable in to the USB port on the side of the Venturi. The Venturi works in a similar way to the Jabra Cruiser. It connects to your phone using Bluetooth and will then stream your music, calls and sat nav directions through to your car stereo using its built in FM transmitter. If your car stereo has a line in/aux in connection, you can connect the Venturi to it using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable (the same as the TomTom Cradle). This will give a more reliable connection to your stereo, but means you’ll have wires trailing across your dashboard. Unlike the Cruiser, the Venturi doesn’t have track skip buttons, so you’ll only be able to play/pause your music. Option 3 – Parrot MKi9000 Fitted Car Kit * CoPilot Live UK & Ireland ?19.99 (iTunes Link) * Brodit Holder with Dock Connector ?49.99 * Parrot MKi9000 Bluetooth Car Kit ?99.95 * Total Cost ?169.93 This set up isn’t so much about saving money compared to the TomTom kit, more a case of showing you how much more you could get for the same sort of price. Without doubt, you’ll always get better audio quality using a fully fitted car kit than you would with a portable one. The Parrot MKi range of car kits have been designed with iPods and iPhones in mind and they work almost seamlessly. The MKi9000 kit is fitted behind your dashboard and is completely out of sight. There is a multi connector cable that has a USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack and an Apple Dock connector. This cable connects your iPhone to the car kit and will route call audio, music and directions through your car stereo at the same time as charging it. The Brodit holder that I’ve suggested here has a dock connector on the bottom too, so you can connect this cable to it, then whenever you slide your phone into the holder it will connect to the car kit without you needing to mess around with cables or plug anything in. If you’d rather not use cables, then you can use the kit over a bluetooth connection and get the same functionality from it. A small remote can be attached to your dashboard or steering wheel and can be used to answer/end calls as well as play/pause/track skip and activate voice dialling. On the subject of voice dialling, it’s actually a feature of the MKi9000 rather than the phone and will work with all models of iPhone. The only downside is that there isn’t a way to activate voice commands on iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS. The prices shown here don’t include installation and vehicles without an ISO stereo may need additional cables. Summary All three of these solutions work great with iPhone 4 and any of the available Sat Nav applications available for the iPhone. Personally I’d opt for either the Jabra Cruiser or the Parrot MKi9000.

iPod Kit Offers Listening Options That Are Not Available On Radio

iPod Kit Offers Listening Options That Are Not Available On Radio Cover Some people who own iPods might not see the point in purchasing an iPod car kit. If they usually listen to CDs, or are satisfied with the radio in their car, there may be no perceptible reason to upgrade. However, the iPod car kit allows you to use all of your iPod's capabilities on-the-go, so you are not limited to radio programming, or CDs. Regardless of the channel, all radio programming is essentially the same: a mixture of music, news, DJ interjections, and of course, commercials. Listening to the radio can be fun, but all the interruptions can quickly become annoying. Not to mention that, no matter what channel you choose, sooner or later they will play a song that you don't like, or that is overplayed, and you'll be forced to switch. Also, most stations change their programming at certain times (such as Saturday evenings, etc.) and you can't hear the music they would normally play. With CDs, the commercials and DJs aren't a problem, but you can only listen to a maximum of 10-20 songs before the disc starts over. Once the disc has played through once, most people will pull down their visor, or open their glove box, to go through the disc collection they've brought along and find a new one. Not only is this dangerous, but it's inconvenient. Also, very few people actually bring their ENTIRE collection of CDs with them; usually they only bring their favorites, and if they want to hear something that they don't have with them, that's too bad. An iPod car kit solves all of these problems. There is no disc-switching, just a button click if you finish an album. There are no commercials, DJs, or any other interruptions. You will never have to change a channel; just skip to the next song. Also, you'll never have to worry about wanting to hear songs that are on a disc you haven't brought along; you'll have your entire library with you at all times. Pick and choose, set to random or select a track and let the music play, after all you did load the music you love on it! Dension products are available from numerous Online iPod Car Kit Stores.

iPhone Car Mount With Charger

iPhone Car Mount With Charger Cover HANDS ON THE WHEEL, SON! Back when we learned to drive, things were easy. You put the foot on the clutch, shifted into first gear, and then learned the magical balance between stalling the car and lurching forward to your doom. (Or, if on a hill, rolling backwards into a lake and drowning, even if there was no lake.) The "danger" of driving came from attempts to eat a fast food meal with one hand, shift with the other, and steer with our knees, all the while singing along with our favorite mix tape. Ah, those were the days. Nowadays, the most dangerous thing in your car is your cell phone. It's so tempting to surf the internet and drive. We figure, cops have laptops in their cruisers, right? We should get the internet too! ThinkGeek does not advocate texting or surfing or even talking while driving. For some of you, chewing gum while driving is also right out. But we happen to have this handy kit that charges and holds your iPhone in a big friendly hug, keeping it safe and within hand's reach while you drive. But seriously, hands on the wheel and eyes on the road, son! Product Specifications * Compatible with iPhone 3G, 3Gs & 4G * Charges and securely holds your iPhone * Features the Innocase signature soft touch coating for a smooth feel * Removable accessory plate for use with the Innocase II Surface (not included) * Charge external devices or accessories with the Mini-USB output * Mount is of high quality German construction * Large suction cup with a suction lock for extra security * Ball joint allows for multiple viewing angles * Extends from 5.25 inches to 6.75 inches * Stabilizes vibrations caused by moving vehicles * Comes with self-adhesive plate for mounting to your dashboard

Blueant Supertooth 3 Review

Blueant Supertooth 3 Review Cover I’m a big fan of Bluetooth hands-free solutions which attach to the sun visor in your car. My experience has shown that typically these devices offer better sound quality for your calls because they are so close to your face while speaking. One such solution is the Supertooth 3 by BlueAnt. It’s nice to have someone to talk to One feature which sets the Supertooth 3 apart from other similar solutions is that it actually talks to you. When you first setup the device to pair with your phone a female voice walks you through the whole process. No doubt, that was a nice touch. Once Supertooth 3 is paired with your phone then it will attempt to download your phone’s address book. While it does this the phone announces how many contacts it has loaded until it is finally finished. Once your contacts are downloaded then the device will announce the name of the caller when your phone rings. If the number does not match a contact then the Caller ID information is announced even if it is just a number. That’s a pretty slick feature and it also adds safety since it helps to keep your eyes on the road as there is no Caller ID display you need to read. The device is even multilingual and supports six languages including American English, Spanish, French, Italian, German and British English. This device is truly hands free One thing you have to admit about most hands free devices is that they are not truly hands free. Typically you have to press a button to answer a call. That’s not the case with the Supertooth 3. After you get a call, and the device announces the name or phone number of the caller, you simply need to say “OK” to answer the call. That way there is no need for you to take your hands off the wheel. Simple installation I really like how the Supertooth 3 installs on your visor. Basically, there is a metal clip that attaches to your visor, the device then attaches to the metal clip by using built-in magnets on the back of the casing. This makes it really easy to take the device in and out of the car as needed without the need to pull the clip off of the visor. It has its own battery You don’t have to worry about a dangling cord coming from your visor to power the device. That’s because the Supertooth 3 has a built-in battery which offers 15 hours of talk time and 800 hours of standby time. If you need to plug the device into the car then you can use the included car adapter or bring it in the house and plug it into the AC travel charger. Summary So far the Supertooth 3 by BlueAnt is the favorite Bluetooth speakerphones I have reviewed. That’s probably due to its slim design, long battery life and voice prompts for setup and call announcements. I also really like the fact that I can answer calls just using my voice. You can pick up the BlueAnt Supertooth 3 for under US$100 from most online retailers.

Popping Popcorn With Cell Phones

Popping Popcorn With Cell Phones Cover It’ amazing how many qualities cell phones have...They are able to do so many things! Their options allow you to find other people, work as a GPS, they permit internet aces...Even making popcorn, some say! Everybody has heard about this, but maybe not all were tempted to try to see with their own eyes...This is so not true.J Although u might have seen clips or videos on Youtube or any other sites or maybe you heard there are people that say it’s true, I can say it’s not. I tried to do that, in one weekend out with my friends. We were curious, because we each heard different stories about cell phones and popping popcorn. So...we arranged the cell phones ( 5 or 6 pieces) in a circle and stood each of us with another cell phone in our hand to call one of the numbers that was on the table. Some corn was in the middle, and we all laughed that we won’t cook any more if this would work. So....we all get ready, and tried to call in the same time. It did not work the first time, it was difficult for us to synchronize our calls. Finally, we managed to call all in the same time and waited curiously to see what happens...and we waited....we waited....but nothing. We tried to do that again, with even more cell phones. Again, no result. We taught there was too much corn, than we decided to go inside, because it might work in there...Nothing happened again. So...I am tempted to think this is not possible. I saw clips that demonstrate the contraire, but I think the self experience is what I should trust in. I don’t think that the radiations that cell phones might emit are that strong to be able to manage to pop popcorn. This might be something invented for fun or maybe, who knows, for making people try some stupid things... The clips I have seen are fake, this is just a story for some to full their free time with. For those who did not know, cell phones have some components used by the fabrication of the microwaves. So, it’s true they emit some radiations, but way much smaller than a microwave that makes our popcorn. So, popping popcorn with the cell phone is impossible. So, if you want to eat popcorn right now, do not search for your phone, just do what you know it’s best, use traditional methods or, much easier, go buy some. Cell phones are not that advanced. Use you phone to do usual and general stuff and do not trust he will cook for us, although this may happen sometime in the future...

Parrot Driver Bluetooth Headset Must Have For Drivers

Parrot Driver Bluetooth Headset Must Have For Drivers Cover With the "driving with a mobile" ban it's probably the time you look at investing in a Bluetooth headset being mobile –savvy. The Parrot Driver Bluetooth Headset solidifies that parrot is Bluetooth-product master, a device that comes compete with car charger so the unit is not only in the car for whenever you need it, but so it’s always fully charged. It fits naturally into the auditory canal. The headset weighs a mere 14 grams and offers 5 hours' talk time on a full charge. The unit takes its power from a cigarette lighter if you're not already using it for your GPS which is a superb idea. As for the headset, it is very light, and you won't find styling resembling to either the Jabra or Plantronics headsets. The headset features a rather bright blue light which beams out for all to see. This seems to be a mind of an over-zealous engineer. The headset itself has common prolonged design with about average size and weight. The ear-bud is inserted into the ear-canal and that is how the whole headset stays on your head. This allows it to be put on very easily with one hand, since it is expected that you are using the other one to steer the car's wheel. It has three buttons a couple of volume keys on the bottom and top and a power key on the front side it's relatively easy to use the volume keys as you hold the headset to press them. When it comes to quality the Parrot Driver Bluetooth Headset worked very well, with no one was found complaining about sound or noise quality so far. It features a built-in Bluecore 3 processor and offers complete compatibility with all the Bluetooth® phones on the market. The Parrot Driver Headset is a wireless headset specially designed for all drivers who like the headset concept, but who are discomforted with the poor battery life offered by most of the models currently available.
