Apple iPad Or iPhone Hd Can I Afford And Do I Need Both

Apple iPad Or iPhone Hd Can I Afford And Do I Need Both Cover There is perhaps one question that is lingering on the minds of a lot of Apple fans and consumers around the globe these days; can i afford and do i need both the Apple iPad and the coming iPhone HD/iPhone 4? The Apple iPad has been out for about two months now in the US, but for many other international consumers their first chance to get their hands on the new “digital revolution” came this Friday that passed, with early UK reports that sales have been strong with retailers, including Apple iPad atPC World and Currys that got a reseller deal with Apple. The question on my mind though, is how many of us are actually sitting on the fence for now awaiting the likely announcement of the 4th generation iPhone 4/iPhone HD on June 7th as Steve Jobs takes centerstage at the WWDC 2010? I would assume that it is not an ideal situation for Apple that the international launch of the Apple iPad comes so close to the much awaited upgrade of the iPhone, which if we are to believe in the rumours, is likely to become available to consumers worldwide towards end of June. Whether you are a current iPhone 3GS owner like me that still has 6-8 months left of the contract and will likely have to pay an early upgrade charge for the new iPhone HD, or have been sitting on the fence waiting for the new iPhone before making the investment, finding the money to get both the Apple iPad and the new iPhone HD in the same month is likely a stretch for most of us. Assuming that the new 4th generation iPhone will cost around the same as the iPhone 3GS with a contract, we are looking at having to shell out $160-460 depending on the model on top of the contract, and the Apple iPad starts at $649. So if i was to buy both now in June/July i would be looking at a one off cost of at least $940 or so to get both products. That would seriously digg into my holiday budget and holiday plans, and do i really need both products? Personally i have been sitting on the fence in terms of the Apple iPad as i currently find that between my iPhone and my laptop i cover my needs in terms of work/entertainment. Would i like to have an iPad? yes. But do i need one? not really. I would rather get my early upgrade to the 4th generation iPhone if it lives up to the rumours and the expectations of the market in terms of upgraded features. I can definitely see the potential of the Apple iPad for the professional market, but for now i’ll continue to get my entertainment in the more traditional forms of the television, my laptop, and my hopefully new iPhone HD at the end of June.

The Ultimate Iphone Accessories All I Want For Christmas Wishlist

The Ultimate Iphone Accessories All I Want For Christmas Wishlist Cover If you are anything like me you are always on the look-out for that next accessory for your iPhone 3GS. That little extra that makes your iPhone unique or that enhances its features, protects it from scratches or the elements, or that just shows off your techie-leading status. With Christmas just months away i have found that family and friends starts asking what i would like for Christmas, and every year i find it just as difficult to answer, as i tend to buy what i would like as and when instead of relying on Christmas gifts to bring it to me. This year, to try and make it a bit easier not just for me, but perhaps also a few other iPhone owners out there, i have compiled a list of what i think are great accessories for my iPhone, both that i own, have tested, or want to get my hands on. As i am sure there are plenty of great iPhone accessories i have missed out on, feel free to leave a comment with your own favourites, and together we can create the ultimate iPhone accessories Christmas wishlist. And Santa, here is my list: Jaybird Freedom bluetooth headphones I have not had a chance to test these myself yet, so will have to go with the recommendation from people who have. Who would imagine it would be that hard to find a place that sells these to get a chance to test before i put my money where my mouth is and buy them myself! I love the concept of wireless headphones though, and ones that does not look like a big stick coming out of your ear like most bluetooth earpieces, and the Jaybird Freedom wireless headphones seems to be the best ones i have come across so far. Everyone says that sound quality gets compromised when you use bluetooth devices instead of traditional earphones, but then again i find wires incredibly annoying when out running or at the gym, so i'd rather have a good set of headphones to use at home, and then have these Jaybird Freedom to use out and about. The Jaybird Freedom bluetooth headset is available from Santa's helper - Amazon USA - from $119.99 iSkin Cerulean TX+RX bluetooth dock adapter I actually own these as i wanted to find an easy way to allow me to use my iPhone and iPod Touch with my Focal XS sound system without having to dock with the unit. After searching high and low i came across the Cerulean bluetooth dock adapter and place an order there and then. I find this gadget brilliantly as it allows me to use the iPhone and iPod Touch as normal, right there in my hand instead of in the dock, and i have not been able to hear any significant loss of sound quality from the Focal XS unit while using the Cerulean adapter either. In my opinion a must have gadget for anyone that already have an iPod Speaker dock or another sound system with a remote dock that is not a wireless unit. Read more about the Cerulean TX+RX bluetooth dock adapter here, or get the order in for Christmas from Amazon USA from $84, or from iWorld for $91 Gorillapod multi purpose iPhone stand Unlike other iPhone stands the Gorillapod is multifunctional as its bendable arms allows you to wrap it around pretty much anything, including the handles on your bike to allow you to use your iPhone while out biking, taking advantage of some of the many great apps out there for bikers, including GPS functionality. The Gorillapod's flexible arms rotate and bend 360 degrees allowing you to attached your iPhone to pretty much anything. It uses a strong suction cup to hold the iPhone in place, that according to tests is very reliable so very little danger of harm to your iPhone unless you get too adventurous. This one is a definite on my own Christmas wishlist this year. Grab it today at a Christmas bargain price of $17.99 from Amazon USA - $17.99 (original price $36.95) mStation Mohpie juice pack / charger for iPhone ind yourself out travelling and using your iPhone a lot, then i'm sure you have experience running low on battery, limiting how much you can play with your iPhone before you get to a place where you can charge it (happens to me all the time). The biggest curse of the iPhone is its battery life, therefore the mStation Mophie is an unfortunate necessity, but cool none the less. What is great about the mStation Mohpie is that it doubles as an extra battery and case, providing both an energy boost for your iPhone as well as a protective case, and unlike most other external extra batteries, it looks quite cool. Provide some extra juice for your iPhone this Christmas should a blizzard knock out the power in your ski cabin. Available from Amazon USA for $109.99 Altec Lansing inMotion Max iPhone speaker dock One of the latest models from this well known speaker dock supplier is the Altec Lansing inMotion Max which is fully iPhone compatible and also full of quality sound. The inMotion Max builds further on their long expertise in delivering quality portable speaker docks, as this one comes with a rechargeable battery with up to 3.5 hours of playtime, and no need to set your iPhone into flight mode before docking and listening to your tunes. You can also check out other iPhone compatible speaker docks here. The Altec Lansing can be delivered in time for Christmas even if the post office tries to stop you, thanks to Amazon UK for a very reasonable price of $150.99 (reduced from $229.99). iTunes to create free ringtones The last one on my list is a free one, but yet a great iPhone accessorie; iTunes. Apple has launched their ringtone download service through the iTunes Store as part of the iTunes 9 upgrade, but you can with a few easy steps create your own ringtones from your favourite music as you can see in this little handy guide to create free iPhone ringtones using only iTunes. I hope you have found this iPhone accessories wishlist useful for your own Christmas shopping or for providing friends and family with tips as to what you would like for Christmas. If you have come across other great iPhone accessories please share them with the rest of us by leaving a comment to this post.

Frightbox Possesses Iphones Just In Time For Halloween

Frightbox Possesses Iphones Just In Time For Halloween Cover SKH Apps today is pleased to announce its frightening new app, ‘FrightBox‘. Boasting to be one of the scariest apps available on iTunes, this app combines dark, gloomy visuals, a slew of eerie sound effects and two chilling features: ‘Possessed’ mode and ‘FrightCall’. This unique iPhone app is sure to scare. Upon opening the app, you are immediately presented with the ‘demons’ sound effects page. After pressing any of the buttons, you quickly find that these are not the ordinary, silly Halloween effects you often hear, but more on the line of sounds you would find in today’s popular horror films. Swiping the screen provides several pages of alarming sounds including zombies, ghosts, screams and more. Along with the sound effects, you can find two special buttons on the front page. One labeled ‘Possessed’ and the other ‘FrightCall’. At first pressing the ‘Possessed’ appears to do nothing, but after a few seconds your iPhone begins randomly vibrating and spewing creepy sound effects. This continues alternating between silence and scary sounds until the button aptly labeled ‘Exorcise” is pressed. Pressing the ‘FrightCall’ button begins a short countdown timer. Once the timer runs out, a call screen opens as if you are receiving an incoming call. The phone continues to ring displaying the caller’s name as ‘devil’. Once answered, unnerving voices come through from the earpiece. The ‘FrightCall’ effect is extremely realistic and sure to surprise unsuspecting victims.

Hasbro Plans 3d Goggles For Your Iphone

Hasbro Plans 3d Goggles For Your Iphone Cover If you’ve ever wanted to view 3D content on your iPhone or iPod touch, Hasbro has you covered. The toy-maker has just unveiled its newest creation, My3D, a pair of 3D glasses with a slot for an iPhone or iPod touch. It promises to deliver 3D content and 360-degree gaming. The Associated Press reports that the device is expected to retail for $30 and will be available in the spring. As CNET notes, the device has the appearance of a View-Master, but it’s targeted at both kids and adults. The AP reports that Hasbro was “guided by Apple during the development” of the product; 3D devices and add-ons have a lot of potential, but in the home setting, it becomes a question of available and valuable content. According to the AP, Hasbro says it is working with Dreamworks Animation to develop material. Dreamworks Animation has a number of successful 3D animated hits under its belt — including the recently released Megamind. Hasbro also says it will use content from 3D TV networks like the Discovery Channel and other content from Sony and IMAX. Other partnerships include the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, where 3D travel experiences are being created. The appeal for movie and television studios seems pretty clear — this is a way to promote upcoming 3D content in theaters or give users a taste of 3D entertainment at home. The bigger question, however, is if there is enough of a lure for consumers to purchase this sort of content and device — and just as importantly, if this is attractive to app developers. Creating 3D content isn’t inexpensive and that’s one of the hurdles that non-video content creators continue to face. For something like My3D to succeed, there need to be games and content that goes beyond advertisements for feature films. It’ll be interesting to see if Hasbro can pull this off. The $30 price point certainly puts My3D in the “why not?” purchase category. Now let’s just see if it can go beyond mere novelty.

Iphone 4 Antenna Drops Signal 90 Percent On Contact

Iphone 4 Antenna Drops Signal 90 Percent On Contact Cover The German organization doesn’t specify which two rival handsets were tested but recalls that, while a decrease in signal was observed when their antenna was held, the most it could record was a 25-percent loss. As with Consumer Reports, the company suggests a length of tape placed over the iPhone 4?s antenna bridge as a temporary solution until a free iPhone 4 case arrives. Stiftung Warentest’s results highlight another issue with smartphone signal strength, one that in fact Apple itself has identified: with no standardized way of displaying strength in bars, it’s hard for users to know whether what’s indicated on their screen means they’ll be able to place a call successfully or not. Apple recently pushed out iOS 4.0.1 for the iPhone 4 which reworked their signal strength banding; however this latest round of testing suggests that the iPhone 4 antennagate arguments aren’t going to go away any time soon.

Philips Dc315 iPhone Docking Station Review

Philips Dc315 iPhone Docking Station Review Cover Philips have really established themselves in the iPhone speaker market over the last year with the Philips Fidelio speaker dock, bringing a combination of style and performance to the market. With the DC315/05 they have created a topseller. The Philips DC315/05 docking station is targeting more the clock radio bedroom/kitchen docking station market compared to some of the other Philips speaker docks, and it is doing a very good job at it while looking very stylish and modern in its design. Sound and features The DC315 docking station does exactly what it says on the tin, it provides you with a combination of a charging station for your iPod or iPhone while allowing you to listen to your music either from the docked device or from digital FM radio. Dual alarm settings will allow you to set different alarms for weekdays compared to weekends, or if you are sharing the alarm clock, to set separate alarms to wake up to. You can choose what music you want to wake up to either from your iPod/iPhone or from the digital FM radio. Design is definitely one of the strong points for Philips and their iPod docking stations, and it is the same for the DC315 docking station. The display is big and gives you the time as well as information about music source. As for the sound from the DC315 alarm docking station it delivers well for its use. Featuring 2 x 4 RMS total output power with bass reflex speakers, giving you a nicely balanced sound with a warm bass touch. Overall experience The Philips DC315/05 docking station and alarm clock is among the more stylish in its class, and the performance is also up to the same levels as most other docking stations in the same category, proving a winning formula for Philips. Price point for the DC315 is not bad either at about $80 - buy from Amazon UK - making it competitively priced in its category. If you are after a nice little portable docking station that will fit well both in the bedroom or the kitchen for example, and that provides you with alarm clock functionality, then the DC315 is worth a second look. If however alarm functionality is of less importance, then you might also want to check out the Philips DS3000/05.

Secret Apple Factory For Foxconn

Secret Apple Factory For Foxconn Cover Steve Jobs himself confirmed that Apple was exploring other ways to address the iPhone 4?s antenna issues at the company’s press conference a little over a week ago. While a full recall is not on the cards, there’s been plenty of speculation that Apple is looking to tweak their hardware design alongside the launch of the delayed white iPhone 4. However, a private, more tightly controlled facility would also allow Apple to work with Foxconn on the next-generation iPhone 4; while the latest model has only been on the market for a relatively short period, it’s no secret that development of the handsets stretches into years and Apple is undoubtedly considering the device that will replace it. Foxconn’s record of secrecy has been punctuated by various high-profile leaks together with employee suicides, and this temporary works might be a move to better control access to development information.

It is not only renowned producer and musician Dr Dre that is behind these products, as there are also models that feature the names of Diddy, Lady Gaga, and most recently Justin Bieber. Alongside these artists there is a myriad of celebrities that promotes the Beats by Dre line up, including basketball superstars LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. Apple App Store Adds Hardcore Games

Apple App Store Adds Hardcore Games Cover While Microsoft is trying to save face with their upcoming launch of Kinect, and how it relates to hardcore gamers out there, Apple is apparently vying to make their name known amidst the crowd. Sure, their titles are far more “mobile” than, say, Microsoft’s, but that doesn’t make the gamers any less hardcore. Today, Apple officially unveiled their new “Hardcore Games” section within App Store Essentials. And, as you can tell from the picture above, it’s pretty hardcore. Titles you’ll find in there range, but you should find some familiar ones like Space Invaders Infinity Gene, Chaos Rings, and Archetype. The prices don’t seem to have changed much, though. Any hardcore gamers out there feel like this section was absolutely needed to get your favorite games their own showcase area?

Iluv Drops Wide Imm747 Ipad Speaker Dock Cover That’s good name for the product, it seems very wide and it makes me think about jumbo jets when I hear the name. The dimensions of the dock are 14.3? W x 5? H x 3.7? D and the thing weighs two pounds. It slurps down 15W of juice when in use and has a mini USB port for syncing the iPad, a 3.5mm aux input jack, and a power adapter port. The best news about the dock is that while it will fit your iPad, it will also sync and charge your iPhone or iPod as well thanks to a flexible and adjustable dock design that needs none of those irritating inserts. The speakers themselves have separate drivers for treble, mid-range, and bass along with radiators to increase that bass. The dock will sell for $149.99 when it launches this month.

Alternatives To The Tomtom iPhone Car Kit

Alternatives To The Tomtom iPhone Car Kit Cover With pricing now confirmed for the TomTom iPhone Car Kit at ?99.99 without the Sat Nav Application, it makes the whole package a little expensive at just under ?160 – especially when you consider that you can buy a fully functional stand alone TomTom GPS unit for less than $180. Now, don’t get me wrong, TomTom do make great Sat Nav systems, but I’m really not convinced that their iPhone offering is really worth the $250 that they’re asking for it. The car cradle is a clever bit of kit, but there are other devices out there that will do the same thing. The main features of the TomTom Car Cradle are: * Charges your iPhone * Ability to play your music through your car stereo * Built in speaker for handsfree calling * GPS Enhancer * Volume controls I’ve spent a bit of time this week searching out the best alternatives to the pricey TomTom set up and here’s what I found: Option 1 – Jabra SP700 * CoPilot Live UK & Ireland $39.99 (iTunes Link) * Jabra SP700 $55.53 * Sat Nav Starter Pack $22.95 * Total Cost $119.47 It’s not all in one like the TomTom, but this set up is less than half the price! CoPilot Live is a great alternative to TomTom. The software has been around for years on Windows Mobile devices and is the pre-installed mapping application on most T-Mobile and O2 smartphones. Feature wise it does everything that TomTom does, but for a lot less money. It’s currently rated as a 4 star app on the iTunes App store, compared to 3 stars for the TomTom app. The Sat Nav starter pack for iPhone includes a compact, rotating windscreen holder for your iPhone and a car charger. If you’ve already tried using GPS on the iPhone in your car, you’ll know necessary a car charger is. Having the screen on permanently and locking on to a GPS signal drains the battery quite quickly. The Jabra SP700 is much more than just a standard Bluetooth speaker phone. It has a built in FM transmitter that can stream music, calls and directions from your iPhone through to your car stereo using Bluetooth. Option 2 – Venturi Mini * Navigon MobileNavigator British Isles $54.99 - $81.99 (iTunes Link) * Venturi Mini $81.95 * iPhone Car Pack $23.95 * Total Cost $170.89 – $197.89 Navigon was the first Sat Nav app for the iPhone, and its relatively low price made it incredibly popular. On iTunes it’s currently rated as a 3 and a half star app, so better than TomTom, but not quite as high as CoPilot Live. The iPhone Car Pack includes a robust, adjustable holder that can hold your iPhone in almost any position as well as a car charger to keep your phone fully charged. The Venturi Mini is a Bluetooth car kit that is designed to fit in your cigarette lighter permanently. To charge your iPhone, you just need to connect your existing iPhone USB cable to the USB port on the side of the Venturi. The Venturi works in a similar way to the Jabra SP700. It connects to your phone using Bluetooth and will then stream your music, calls and sat nav directions through to your car stereo using its built in FM transmitter. If your car stereo has a line in/aux in connection, you can connect the Venturi to it using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable (the same as the TomTom Cradle). Option 3 – Parrot MKi9000 Fully Fitted Kit * CoPilot Live UK & Ireland $39.99 (iTunes Link) * Brodit Holder with Dock Connector $59.99 * Parrot MKi9000 Bluetooth Car Kit $129.95 * Total Cost $239.93 This set up isn’t so much about saving money compared to the TomTom kit, more a case of showing you how much more you could get for the same sort of price. Without doubt, you’ll always get better audio quality using a fully fitted car kit than you would with a portable one. The Parrot MKi range of car kits have been designed with iPods and iPhones in mind and they work almost seamlessly. The MKi9000 kit is fitted behind your dashboard and is completely out of sight. There is a multi connector cable that has a USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack and an Apple Dock connector. This cable connects your iPhone to the car kit and will route call audio, music and directions through your car stereo at the same time as charging it. The Brodit holder that I’ve suggested here has a dock connector on the bottom too, so you can connect this cable to it, then whenever you slide your phone into the holder it will connect to the car kit without having to mess around with cables. If you’d rather not use cables, then you can use the kit over a bluetooth connection and get the same functionality from it. A small remote can be attached to your dashboard or steering wheel and can be used to answer/end calls as well as play/ pause music and activate voice dialling (Voice dialling is feature of the MKi9000 and will work with all models of iPhone). The prices shown here don’t include installation and vehicles without an ISO stereo may need additional cables. All three of these solutions work great with the iPhone and any of the available Sat Nav applications available for the iPhone, including the TomTom App. You’ll find more information on each of the Sat Nav Apps on the App Store within iTunes or on your iPhone.

How To Pair iPhone Blackberry And Nokia Phones To A Parrot Car Kit

How To Pair iPhone Blackberry And Nokia Phones To A Parrot Car Kit Cover Pairing Bluetooth car kits with mobile phones can prove challenging. Different manufacturers and sometimes individual phones, set up Bluetooth connections with different menus and selections. This guide shows how to pair iPhone 4, BlackBerry Curve 8900, and Nokia E72 phones with an MKi9100 Parrot car kit and accompanies a video on each. People often navigate their phone menu system knowing that they need to achieve a Bluetooth connection, but without any idea how to achieve this. This is not surprising as there are so many different mobile phones on the market, and therefore many different ways of setting up the same Bluetooth function. Often if a successful connection is made, this is down to luck rather than understanding. Here in this guide we set out the pairing Bluetooth procedure for three different brands of phone; the iPhone 4, BlackBerry Curve 8900, and the Nokia E72. This guide should be similar for other phones from these manufacturers, however they are not guaranteed to be the same. For other brands of phone, it is easier to get an understanding of what functions need to be found, by seeing these three sets of menu selections. A mini screen MKi9100 Parrot car kit was used for the pairing of each phone. To begin with it is necessary for the mobile phone to be within Bluetooth range, this means the phone should be inside the car and the vehicle engine needs to be switched on. Pair iPhone 4: 1. Select main menu - Settings - General - Bluetooth, 2. Turn Bluetooth on, 3. Select Parrot device and enter MKi default code '0000'. Pair BlackBerry Curve 8900: 1. Select BlackBerry Menu button - Manage connections - turn Bluetooth on - Set up Bluetooth - Search, 2. The phone finds the MKi9100 device, click on this to select it, 3. Enter the MKi default code '0000' to complete pairing, 4. Before clicking "Yes" on the phone to connect to the Parrot kit, tick the box that says "don't ask this again", for automatic pairing each time the phone enters the car. Pair Nokia E72: 1. Select function buttons: Menu - Ctrl. panel - Connectivity - Bluetooth (for first time Bluetooth use the phone will need to be assigned a name), 2. On this menu there are three tabs - "Settings", "Paired devices" and "Blocked Devices" scroll right on the main navigation button for the second "Paired devices" tab, 3. Click on Options - New paired device - More devices, 4. The phone searches for the kit, when found click on it and enter MKi default code '0000', 5. Click yes to "Authorise device to make connections automatically" (for automatic pairing on entering the car), 6. Click yes to "Authorise device to accept connection" (to synchronise contact address book from phone to car). In most cases these steps will prove to be sufficient however if pairing fails, it can be of assistance to set up the Parrot kit to look for a phone to pair with. Set up the MKi9100 Parrot Car Kit to Look for Phones: 1. Click scroll wheel and turn until reach "Settings" (click to select), 2. Click scroll wheel to select "Bluetooth", 3. Turn scroll wheel till reach "Pair with" (click to select), 4. Click to select "Other phones". Once paired each of these three phones should now benefit from automatic address book synchronisation, from phone to the Bluetooth car kit. This allows caller ID to be shown on the Parrot car kit screen and is a common feature of all kits that have a display.
