Best iPhone Car Mount Functional And Stylish

Best iPhone Car Mount Functional And Stylish Cover Which Iphone car mount You should get entirely depends on what your needs are. For example there are some iPhone car mounts that will act as a charger without the need for excess wires in your vehicle, while there are some actors various accessories. Prices for a good iPhone car Mount range anywhere from $16 to a little over $100 for the more feature packed car mounts. You are bound to find a huge selection of iPhone car mounts online at retailers such as Amazon, eBay, or maybe even on craigslist. I have put some of the best iPhone car mounts below for your convenience so that you not go around searching on the Internet for one. Style or Functionality? If you do decide to take the route of searching for your own car Mount then you probably will face the decision of choosing functionality or a flashy new style. For example, you can find a high dollar car mount that will have all the same functions as a competing brand but for considerably less. Of course if you have the money and are willing to spend it on having a very attractive looking car mount, then by all means do it. If you don't have the money to waste, then you will want to shop around a little bit to make sure you are getting a good deal. Like I stated earlier though I will have A few good and reliable iPhone car mounts below that I like and use that you can take a look at. Top iPhone Car Mount Brands Here is a small list of iPhone car mount brands, which are reliable. - Kensignton - Griffin - Amzer - Pro. Fit - Soundgate - Arkon - Krussel - Smoothtalker This is by all means not a complete list, but some of my favorite brands. Favorite Accessories With a Car Mount I personally like my car mount to do a couple of things. First of all I like it when it charges my iPhone, this just makes things so much more convenient and I don't have to worry about my iPhone going dead throughout the day for the most part. Also I really like the feature some mounts have which allows you to have the voice from a call you have received to come through the radio of your car, this makes it really easy to place a call or answer a call while driving and is designed to provide minimum distractions for the driver, although some times you may look crazy while driving, especially if you are driving alone.

iPhone Angry Birds Space Now Available For iOS And Android

iPhone Angry Birds Space Now Available For iOS And Android Image
Today is March 22nd and that means that Angry Birds Space is now available on a slew of platforms including Apple's iOS, Google's Android, and both OS X and Windows. This is Rovio's latest installment of the iconic Angry Birds franchise and it may just be their most ambitious to date as the Angry Birds have headed for planets that feature differing gravity.

Those who are familiar with the original Angry Birds games will still find the same game play format. Shoot a bird out of a slingshot in an attempt to snuff out the evil green pigs who have stolen their eggs via a giant claw.

Only this time there are levels that have zero gravity which means birds will be flying about in slow motion and at lightspeed.

There are also 60 new levels, new birds, the usual hidden bonus levels, and the awesome game play that many have come to expect from the series.

You can check out the new stuff in the video below:

The application is available for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad on iOS. Those interested can find it on the iOS App Store.

Those on Android will be able to snag it through both the Amazon App Store and through the usual Android market, the Google Play Store. (Still weird saying that.)

Rovio hasn't said whether the game will make it to other operating systems like BlackBerry or Windows Phone so for now, those of you on those operating systems are just going to have to cross your fingers and wait.

Angry Birds Space Now Available for iOS and Android is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Bluetooth Car Kits Ideal Gift For Life Not Just For Xmas

Bluetooth Car Kits Ideal Gift For Life Not Just For Xmas Cover Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for retailers across the world. The tradition of buying presents for loved ones is now common place in most western countries, with the majority of people overspending on mostly unwanted, unneeded and on the whole useless gifts. Don't get me wrong, I like receiving gifts and presents as much as the next person. However when it comes to buying them, rather than purchasing the first funny thing on sale in any generic store, perhaps we should put a little more effort into getting a gift that has its uses past Xmas and Boxing day and the 1st of January. Obviously we cant categorise every single present into a wanted / needed pile and to be thrown away pile in the shops! so how do we go about getting the right gift? Well common-sense should usually pro-vale. Getting a gift to suit some you know should be easy, think about hobbies, interests, social and sporting activities or even items to help them work. Useful gifts come in all shapes and forms and will depend entirely on the recipient of the gift. Its expected that the best selling item this Xmas will be the apple iPhone for obvious reasons, however other mobile phones are expected to sell well. Additional accessories for mobile phones will be another good seller, with Bluetooth car kits among the top 3 accessories purchased. Bluetooth car kits make driving and using the phone much safer, this time of year its especially dangerous to drive anyway. Dangerous road conditions and drink drivers are a major concern and people using the phone while driving can be equally bad, make sure you are phoning legally if you plan to do so in the car, and if your not legal make sure you don't. Remember Bluetooth car kits are for life not just for Christmas. Bluetooth car kits are perfect for making phone calls while driving. Make the call safely & legally and at your convenience with a bluetooth car kit.

10 Great Accessories For The New iPod Touch

10 Great Accessories For The New iPod Touch Cover Earlier this month Apple updated their range of iPods, adding a range of new features and improving their usability. The iPod touch finally saw the addition of a rear camera for taking photo’s and recording HD video – something that people have been requesting for years. The screen has also upgraded and is now a high resolution ‘Retina Display’ similar to that found on iPhone 4. The only other noticeable change is that there’s now a camera on the front and a microphone on the back that enables the iPod to make FaceTime video calls over a Wi-Fi connection. The latest update to the iPod touch operating system, iOS 4.1, introduced a number of improvements to the Bluetooth support on the iPod touch too – opening it up to a whole new range of accessories. The shape and size of the new iPod touch has changed slightly, so if you’re planning on upgrading your current iPod touch to the new one not all of your accessories will work with it. Standard accessories such as docks and headphones will be fine, but cases and screen protectors won’t. With the new iPod touch now being so closely matched (in terms of spec) to the iPhone, I thought I’d take a look at some new iPod touch accessories – including some that you might not necessarily think of using with an MP3 player. I’ll be covering iPod touch 4G cases in more depth in a future post. Hard Candy Street Skin for iPod touch 4G Hard Candy are a relatively new brand that are proving to be extremely popular with iPhone 4 owners. There are currently two styles of Hard Candy iPod touch case – the Bubble Slider and the Street Skin. Each case is made from a tough polycarbonate and provides excellent protection against knocks and scrapes. The Street Skin is a one piece rubber case that has cut outs for the camera and volume keys and has a non slip finish. No screen protector is included though, so you’ll need to invest in an iPod touch 4G screen protector separately. Martin Fields Screen Protector – iPod touch 4G The Martin Fields Screen Protector is easily one of the best quality screen protectors you can get. They’re crystal clear and will keep the screen of your iPod touch looking like new. They don’t reduce the clarity of your screen and colours look exactly the way they’re supposed to. If your screen protector gets dirty, they can be removed easily from the phone, cleaned and refitted. They are available individually or in a twin pack. It’s precision cut to fit the iPod touch and has cut outs for the Home button and FaceTime Camera. InvisibleSHIELD Full Body Protector – iPod touch 4G If you don’t want the added bulk of a case, but still want to protect your iPod touch, then an InvisibleShield is a great option. It’s a tough, thin plastic film that covers all of your device. I’ve been a fan of these for a while now as they do such a good job. Fitting them is a little bit time consuming, but the end result is well worth it. They don’t add a lot to the bulk of your handset so you can easily use them with most other cases and covers. They also give your iPod a bit more grip which helps to reduce the chances of it slipping out of your hands. Sony Ericsson MW600 Stereo Bluetooth Headset Time for something a little bit different, but very cool! The MW600 is a Multipoint Stereo Bluetooth headset that is absolutely perfect for the iPod touch. Because the headset is Multipoint, you can use it with your iPod at the same time as your phone – for example, you can be listening to your music from your iPod touch through the MW600 and when a call comes through on your mobile, you’ll be able to answer the call using the headset – without having to disconnect the iPod. As soon as your call is over the headset will switch back to your music. What’s more, the MW600 has a built in FM radio – a feature that’s been missing from the iPod touch for years. There are two other stand out features that make this a great choice for the iPod touch. Firstly, the headphones are standard 3.5mm earphones – this means that you can change them for whatever earphones you want if you don’t like/damage/lose the ones that come with it. Secondly, now that iOS4.1 has been updated to include full support for the AVRCP profile, you can use the music controls built into the headset allow you to fully control your music playback without having to touch your iPod. The buttons on the MW600 allow you to skip forward/back/play/pause and adjust the volume level. To change song or playlist you can use the headset to activate voice control and then simply talk to your iPod. For me, this is a must have accessory for music lovers. Antimicrobial Silicone Case for iPod touch 4G Silicone cases are one of the most simple, affordable and effective ways to protect any device. They protect it against bumps and knocks while leaving all the important parts of your iPod accessible. This one has a special coating that helps to kill of germs that might be lurking on your iPod touch. As you’d expect, there are cut outs for the camera, speakers and charging port and the volume keys can still be used through the case. Skullcandy FMJ Full Metal Jacket Headphones – Chrome With Mic If you love music, one of the first things you’ll want to replace will be the headphones. The standard ones that come with your iPod touch aren’t bad and are significantly better than those included with earlier models, but you can get better. The FMJ’s are quite bass heavy, so not so great if you prefer quiet, relaxing tunes, but they provide a clubby sound signature that makes for fun listening. They look great – they have metal casings and fabric cables. You get 3 sets of ear tips included, so if you lose some it’s not the end of the world. The in-line remote will work for music control, but doesn’t have any volume controls. It’s in the right place and the button is raised slightly to make it easy to locate without looking. We’ve checked the mic and it works perfectly with the iPod touch. Scosche HD – High Definition Audio/Video Cable for iPod touch 4G A lot of people now use their iPod to watch films and videos on while they’re out and about, but what do you do when you get home and don’t want to carry on watching on a relatively small screen? The simple answer is to plug your iPod touch into your TV and carry on watching from where you left off. It’s a lot less hassle and it’s quicker than transferring the film back to your PC/Mac and finding where you’re up to. This cable from Scosche is all you need to be able to connect your iPod touch, iPad or iPhone to your HDTV using the RGB Component input. If you don’t have a HDTV or all your component ports are in use, you can also get an Apple Composite Cable that does the same job, but using the red/white/yellow ports found on most TV’s. You won’t need to worry about running out of power either as both cables have the ability to charge your iPod at the same time. Belkin TuneCast Auto Live FM Transmitter If you want to be able to enjoy your music and podcasts while you’re in the car you can of course stick to using the standard earphones, but on long journeys they’re not particularly comfortable and it’s not really all that safe. There are a number of other solutions though and that’s what the next couple of accessories are for. The TuneCast Auto is a 2-in-1 product that will charge your iPod touch and transmit all audio over an FM frequency to your car stereo. For the best experience you can download an app that will use GPS data from your iPod touch to tune in to the clearest frequency where you are and prompt you to tune your stereo in to match. It’s clever, it’s easy and will work on iPod touch and iPhone. Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth & FM Loud Speaker This is a very similar kind of accessory to the TuneCase above, but it does it without wires. Instead of having to plug your iPod touch into the Jabra Cruiser, you connect to it using Bluetooth. Your music is then streamed to the Cruiser and you can then choose to either play it through the built in loudspeaker, or you can broadcast it over FM to your car stereo. Just like the Sony Ericsson MW600, it’s a multipoint device, so you can connect this to your mobile phone at the same time for handsfree calling. If/when a call comes in, the music fades out and the call is relayed through your car stereo or loudspeaker. The Jabra Cruiser has music control buttons built in that allow you to control your music in the same way as you can with the MW600. If you don’t want the physical buttons and are happy enough using voice control, then the Jabra SP700 is a good alternative. Philips DC315 Alarm Clock Radio – iPod touch 4G I only ever charge my iPhone at night I’m sleeping or when I’m in the car, so this is ideal. It means that I don’t have to hunt around each night for my charging cable and I don’t have to worry about accidentally decreasing the ringer volume and sleeping through my alarm. As well as charging your iPod touch, the Philips Alarm Clock can play your music through it’s own speakers. It has track skip controls built into it, so if you are listening to your music from your iPod, you won’t have to go back into the iPod app to change song. The alarm clock has dual alarms, it gives you the choice of being woken up by buzzer, music from your iPod or FM radio as well as snooze and sleep functions. That’s 10 of my favourite iPod touch 4G accessories. Over the next few weeks the range of iPod touch cases and covers will be increasing, so I’ll take a close look at them in a few weeks time. If you’ve not seen anything here that grabs your attention, head over to the main site and check out our full range of new iPod touch accessories.

Wish iPhone Car Setup

Wish iPhone Car Setup Cover I’ve been using the Belkin Auto Kit for my iPod for a while now. The kit offers power while also pulling line-level audio from the unit’s dock connector. I rout this audio to rear auxiliary inputs on my Pioneer DEH-P6800MP. It’s a really great setup, as I get power and audio with one plug, and it’s a direct connection so I don’t have to mess with a FM transmitter (which is pretty worthless in the city I live in). Unfortunately, I can’t take a call with the Belkin unit plugged in. If I try to answer, sound only comes out of the phone’s speakers (not the car’s sound system) and the call is horribly distorted. This has me really wanting a product that doesn’t seem to exist. I’d like a car audio cable that charges, pulls line-out audio from the dock connector, and also routes call audio through the car’s sound system. The unit would have a mic built into the dock connector with noise-canceling circuitry used in current hands-free car kits. Or even better would be a mic on the end of a cord that could be routed up the A pillar to be closer to the driver. I know that there are plenty of Bluetooth systems out there, but it seems like such a cheap addition to existing wired-audio kits to add the same functionality without spending hundreds of dollars and dealing with pairing / interference issues. If anyone knows of such a product that already exists, please point me in the right direction. Otherwise, I’d love to see Belkin update their existing Auto Kit to provide hands-free functionality for the iPhone, or for another company to step up.

Problems With Legitimate Parrot Products In The Uk

Problems With Legitimate Parrot Products In The Uk Cover Its a well know problem that Parrot have major supply issues of Parrot Bluetooth goods in the UK. The genuine stock is readily available and ready to distribute through the correct channels. However this side of the business is not the problem. The problem is there is so much grey stock in the UK at the minute it is very difficult to recognise genuine items from the Grey stock which is generally priced extremely low online. So why does this matter? Well if you purchase Grey stock the UK warranty is void & you don't have technical support from Parrot. This is obviously a big issue if you run into any problems with the installation or further down the line with the product. Maybe this is not a big issue for some of those willing to take the risk. But consider this, over 50% of the Grey stock is being purchased from channels with Europe who deal with faulty and returned products then import to the UK when fixed, and a considerable amount is imported from china when its debatable whether its genuine Parrot stock at all. As you can see the odds are not in your favour if and when you buy them. The Performance of the Grey stock is the same as genuine Parrot stock (assuming it is a working unit). You get the same features and functions, In fact you wouldn't necessarily know if you have purchased Grey until its too late. Genuine Vs Grey Parrot Kits Both Parrots kits are technically the same, one a new product manufactured and distributed to the UK through reliable sources. The other you could be getting a second hand product which has been re-flashed with software. You could get the grey stock up to $45 cheaper than the genuine product online however without warranties. Parrot are aware of the problem of illegal importation of their products and have launched an new initiative to reduce the fraudulent products entering the UK market place. This consists of a unique serial number containing the number "55" added to the exterior packaging on the box. From now, If your Parrot product does not have 55 in the serial number I would be worried about the quality and return to the retailer as soon as possible. With this system the Supply of Genuine parrot bluetooth stock is improving, however keep when ordering the parrot online the cheapest is not necessarily the best deal. You don't want to be stung by an immoral retailer.

iPad Carrier Announcements

iPad Carrier Announcements Image
While Sprint added the iPhone 4S to their lineup last October, last week's new iPad event came and went with Sprint decidedly absent from the new iPad carrier announcements. So what's the deal? Will Sprint be getting the new iPad? Well, "Engadget" has discovered entries in Best Buy's internal database system that may just hint that the new iPad will reach Sprint too.

the new iPad for Sprint has arrived in Best Buy's internal inventory system. Does this mean we're going to see the devices magically show up next week at the electronic megastore? Eh, we wouldn't count on it showing up that soon. But is it possible that Sprint will have Apple's iconic tablet ready to go alongside the Samsung Galaxy Nexus when it launches its multi-billion-dollar 4G investment?

Sprint's 4G deployment is well behind Verizon and a fair bit behind AT&T (thanks in no small part to the distraction that was WiMax). While they could perhaps have offered a CDMA iPad right away, being stuck on a theoretical maximum speed of 3mbps while AT&T and Verizon LTE can hit 72 mbps -- and even AT&T fake 4G/3G can hit HSPA+ speeds well into the double digits -- would have been less than optimal.

So if you're holding out for the new iPad on Sprint, all hope may not be lost. However, even though the New iPad is carrier unlocked, if you buy now you probably won't be able to switch to Sprint later -- CDMA doesn't work that way, and it's uncertain if either the AT&T or Verizon LTE iPads would work on Sprint LTE.

Unfortunately, until Apple and Sprint make an announcement, all you can do is wait. (Or grab an AT&T or Verizon model for now and sell it and buy a Sprint one later -- no contracts, after all.)

Kensington Introduces Acoustic Amplified Gps Mount For iPhones

Kensington Introduces Acoustic Amplified Gps Mount For iPhones Cover Turn at the right corner. Look behind you. Is that TomTom in the rear-view mirror? Those probably aren’t instructions most of us will hear from our GPS units, but they might have been in the minds of Kensington when it released a “cost-effective” alternative to competing systems. The windshield or vent car mount also “acoustically increases speaker volume without additional battery drain on the iPhone,” the company claimed Wednesday. The mount is placed either on an auto’s windshield or in a vent. How can volume increase without using any power? The keyword in the last paragraph may be “acoustically.” We’ve all experienced the great acoustics in a tiled bathroom or the cathedral ceilings of a church. Maybe Kensington’s discovered an electronic voice bounce better when backed by a windshield or a hollow vent? Who know, no details were provided. But what is evident is that Kensington is taking a slap at TomTom. In August, the FCC released photos of TomTom’s Car Kit, including a GPS mount that can reportedly be positioned either vertically or horizontally . The kit also includes a SIRFstar GPS chipset and Bluetooth. Kensington’s acoustically updated GPS mount goes on sale in November, including at all Apple stores. Notes: Only one speaker. If sound is focused through a channel, it gives off the feeling of being louder, not exactly louder, but focused. So rather than the sound going in every direction, you hear more since it is now going in only one direction…try playing your iPhone’s iPod over the internal speaker with it just siting on the table. Then make a fist, open it slightly, and put the iPhone in the opening on top. This mount will do essentially what this is doing.

5 Considerations In Choosing A Bluetooth Car Kit

5 Considerations In Choosing A Bluetooth Car Kit Cover What do you look for in a Bluetooth handsfree car kit or headset? Over the past ten years Blue-tooth car kits have become more and more popular and mainstream in society. This is mainly down to the fact that mobile phones are more common place and have a more prominent role within people’s lives, and the fact we are all traveling in our vehicles more as part of our daily routine. When you combine the two it easy to see why we feel the need to use our mobile phones while we are driving, especially if we are going to be driving for a period of time without stopping. What are Blue-tooth Car Kits and why are they Important? The Bluetooth kit trend started roughly 10 years ago and takes advantage of the built in function of the majority of, if not all new mobile phones. Bluetooth Car Kits such as Parrot and Bury connect to your phone via the Bluetooth function. Once connected the kits act as the Phone and allow a user interface with the phone through the Bluetooth Kit. New Bluetooth car kits such as the Parrot MKi9200 and the Bury CC9060 allow the user to navigate through the mobile phone using its functions like; phonebook, text message, dial etc without having to touch the phone at all, just leave it in your pocket or handbag. The Wireless technology means you can just get in your car and go. Bluetooth Car Kits are becoming ever more important in the modern world as they allow you to be contactable when you’re driving, many people who don’t use a bluetooth kit while driving may feel they are capable of answering the phone or reading a text message without it. However this is proven to cause accidents as a result of dangerous driving, which is why the police and politicians have cracked down on phone drivers. Issuing a mandatory $90 fine and a 3 Point penalty to anybody caught in the act. Advantage of blue-tooth car kits The Aid of a Blue-tooth car kit allows you communicate with anybody safely and legally without having to break contact with the steering wheel or eye contact with the road leaving you to concentrate on driving. Even though Blue-tooth car kits provide a safer means to communicate and drive ultimately you are responsible for driving in a safe manner. The police can still prosecute for dangerous driving if you are using the phone while driving through the Blue-tooth kit if you are driving erratically or dangerously. Manufacturer of blue-tooth Blue-tooth Car Kits have become a very popular accessory within the vehicle world, and many leading brands predict a 3 billion pound market for Bluetooth products across Europe in 2010. Parrot and Bury are the leaders in the aftermarket car kits, specifically to factory fitted car stereos and are already developing further kits on the back of the latest successful Parrot MKI Range and Bury CC9060 units. The latest kits take advantage of the latest technology boom and utilise new and improved features such as advanced voice recognition software where virtually all menus are accessible via voice commands, and no training is required before hand. Just simply narrate the menu title and the function you would like to perform, e.g. dial... In Car Network, the phone dials the number associated with that contact. Other advanced functions include iPod integration, where tracks, videos & artwork are displayed across the screen, SD card & USB input allow additional sources of media and little features like text to voice so text messages can be read aloud, negating the need fumble around looking for and reading incoming texts. Our top 5 requirements would be: * Call Quality * Ability to recognise speech commands for automatic dialing * Ease of use * Reliability, including battery life * Cost – always a factor! Why these 5? There is no point in making or reciving a call if you can’t be heard at the other end, and you need handsfree for a reason, hence the voice dialing. Ease of use should be second nature, but unfortunately is not always the case. Finally you need to know your device will go the distance, without constant recharging, and the cost needs to accord with the features provided. For a headset device we like the look of the new Bluenext B2, whilst the Parrot MKi9000 seems to tick the boxes for a fully fitted device. To sum it up, if you are a passionate car addict as I am, and want to enjoy every bit of your driving, go get yourself the latest Bluetooth car kit in the market. It’s the driving experience that counts in the end. Remember, if you OWN a car, you need a Bluetooth car kit.

Multi-touch iPhone

Multi-touch iPhone Image
It seems like something has gone horribly wrong with iTunes Activation Servers. Scores of people have taken to Apple Discussion Forums and blogs telling about the ordeal that they are facing. It turns out that iTunes Activation Servers are down, and if you trying updating your iOS device to the latest firmware, iOS 4.3.3 at this point in time, your device will be bricked.

It is being said that iTunes updates the firmware on the iDevice as it would normally do, but after that is when the issue arises. iTunes seems to be unable to connect to the activation servers, which in turn leave the device bricked/useless. The following error message is displayed:

There is a problem with your device.

We're sorry, the device you connected may be damaged and cannot be activated for service. We recommend you visit your nearest Apple Store for more information. To find your nearest Apple Store, click here.

Also keep in mind that this problem isn't country or platform specific. This is happening all around the world with users who are using both Mac OS and Windows. The 12 page long, as yet, thread on Apple Support Communities is proof enough that this issue is spread all across the world and for all iDevices.

This is still developing and we'll bring more updates, as they come in. If we find a solution to this problem, you'll be the first to know right through Sizlopedia.

UPDATE: Here's how to fix your iOS 4.3.3 bricked iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

iPhone 4 Came Out

iPhone 4 Came Out Image
While some handset manufacturers strive for celebrity endorsements, giving out pre-release devices to build up hype like (John Mayer and the BlackBerry Bold 9000 comes to mind), comments from Shaquille O'Neal, Phoenix Suns forward Channing Frye, and other high-profile personalities indicate even they're stuck on the same side of the impenetrable Apple PR wall as the rest of us.

Bradley Frank, a publicist that was involved with the excellent Old Spice ad campaign, provided an interesting look at what it's like working in close proximity to Apple.
"When we shot the last Old Spice campaign with Isaiah Mustafa, Apple was shooting the iPad 2 campaign on the next sound studio. We tried to check it out, but it was like machine-gun guards, check-in at different stations. They had code names. It was like dealing with the CIA. Then they walked their asses right onto our set, and had no issue doing that. They just walked onto our set! We were like, 'What are you doing? You can't do that!' And when the iPhone 4 came out, I can't tell you how many clients were like, 'We need that early.' And Apple's like, 'No.'"
While that might be true in general, there have been rare exceptions, like when Stephen Colbert showed off the original iPad at the 2010 Grammy awards (though he almost certainly didn't get to keep it).

Despite having a total lock-down on devices prior to launch, once they're out, Apple scores a ton of product placement in movies and TV shows, nevermind the tons of celebrities that go out and get their own iOS devices with or without the help of Apple. Besides, Apple has a finely-tuned hype machine that hardly needs the help of Hollywood to pump up the latest iPad. The only ones outside of the production process who seem to get iPhone and iPads in advance are high-profile media like Walt Mossberg, and even then, they're on a strict embargo which usually lifts a day or two ahead of launch.

Do you guys think it would be too tacky of Apple to seed new iPads with celebrities before us common-folk, or would it be a reasonable way to increase exposure?

The Muppets Go Mobile With British Rock Band Queen

The Muppets Go Mobile With British Rock Band Queen Image

Disney Interactive Studios launches "The Muppets "Animal Drummer for the iPhone and iPod touch. Available now on the App Store for 1.99 USD, the application puts users in the drummer's seat for a game that will test the skills of wannabe rock drummers. Users can watch and listen to Animal play then match Animal's beat and timing to score points and unlock new songs.

Music has always played a key role for the Muppets franchise, so to develop a music-based game with Animal, as the star was a great way to introduce the brand on the platform. This is, according to Disney, the first step to a broader mobile initiative for the Muppets brand. The Muppets Studio LLC is a subsidiary of the Walt Disney Co.

TMS plans to develop new content in all arenas, including television, feature films, Internet, music and theme parks, and to enhance the Muppets global licensing and distribution presence. The Muppets "Animal Drummer" application features a Free Play Mode where users can rock out with Muppets character "Animal" to original music or songs imported from users' iTunes music library. Users can also score points and create combos to charge their Rock Meter and power their stage presence. They can also use the application to create original music, then hit the record feature and watch Animal replay their jam session.

In addition to this application release the Muppets have teamed up with legendary British rock band QUEEN to record a version of "Bohemian Rhapsody. The Queen and Muppets' version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was released digitally by Walt Disney Records on December 15, so users of Animal Drummer can actually rock out with Animal and the song in the app's Free Play Mode by first downloading 'Bohemian Rhapsody' through iTunes for 0.99 to their music library and then importing it into the app," Mr. Saiz said. "The track is also available as a ringtone on traditional mobile devices," he said.

Apple Is Getting You To Pay

Apple Is Getting You To Pay Image
So you've decided to take the plunge and get the new iPad and you've chosen both the carrier and the color you want, but you aren't sure which storage capacity size to go with? The difference between 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB isn't just how much stuff you can put on it, but 100-200 in up front costs, so it's worth thinking about.

Here's the breakdown.

PRICE FOR STORAGE

The current US prices for the new iPad are (not counting the 130 surcharge for 3G + 4G models):

* 16GB: 499 or 31.19/GB

* 32GB: 599 or 18.72/GB

* 64GB: 699 or 10.92/GB

It looks like you can pay 200 more (20% more) the price for 4x the storage, which makes the price per GB fall really fast. Still, Apple is getting you to pay 100 for an extra 16GB of storage and 200 for an extra 48GB of storage. That's not a great deal, given what SD cards go for these days. That's probably where Apple helps increase their margins.

So if giving Apple an extra dime irks you, the 16GB baseline model could be the way to go. But there are other things to consider first.

ICLOUD AND OTHER ONLINE STORAGE OPTIONS

iCloud gives us unlimited online storage for iTunes purchased content -- iBooks, music, movies, TV shows, and apps, and 5GB of additional storage for backups, data, etc. If that's not enough, you can pay for more.

* 10GB: 20/year

* 20GB: 40/year

* 50GB: 100/year

This might make it tempting to save some up front on onboard storage and make up for it with the free 5GB iCloud, with the option to buy more storage as a safety blanket.

It's not a crazy idea but it's important to remember that online storage isn't always as available, fast, and convenient as onboard storage. For example, you can't just play a movie from iCloud, you have to download it at the same time you watch it, which means you have to have enough space available on your iPad to handle the download. If you want to watch a lot of movies, you may have to watch, delete, watch, delete, over and over again.

iCloud also doesn't give you a file system like Dropbox or Box.net, so you can only really store what Apple lets you. If your movies and videos don't come from iTunes, iCloud is no help to you. Also, in our tests iCloud's free 5GB could get filled up pretty quickly by photos and especially videos.

So iCloud means you can get away with storing less content on your device, but you still want to have enough local storage for what you need, when you need it.

5 MEGAPIXEL PHOTOS AND 1080P VIDEO

Storing a lot of photos or videos on your new iPad means youll need to have a lot of space available.

The new iPad actually has a good camera on it, and that means it takes good 5 megapixel photos and 1080p video. That also means you need room to store 5 megapixel photos and 1080p video.

For example, I take a ton of photos and videos on my iPhone 4S and with 16GB I'd quickly run out of space. Since it's a pain in the butt to have to go through and figure out what to delete if I'm not near my computer, I opted for more storage.

Unlike an iPhone, however, an iPad probably isn't your go-to camera, and isn't the camera you always have with you. In other words, I don't think most people will take and store as many photos or as much video with their iPads as they would their iPhones (or other smartphones).

That being said, I store a ton of photos and video on my iPad. It's just a great way to show and share those special moments with friends and family. If you want to keep a lot of home movies and photos available, you'll need space for them.

CONTENT

Big games, 1080p movies, tons of TV episodes, and gigantic music collections also need a lot of space.

The other thing that can fill up our iPad quickly is content.

*

Games can be big, and with the new iPad's 20481536 Retina display and Apple A5X processor, we might see even bigger ones with more textures and richer environments. Some games were already getting close to 1GB, how big will the Retina iPad games be?

*

iTunes movies can be 1-3GB in size for SD depending on the length. If you prefer watching HD, they can be 3-5GB. If you want to take advantage of the Retina display to watch 1080p movies Watch out.

*

iTunes TV shows can be a quarter to half the size of movies, but more than make up for it by the number of episodes typically available.

*

If you get your movies and TV shows from somewhere other than iTunes, you're still looking at about 400MB an hour for SD and over 1GB (sometimes way over) an hour for HD.

*

Music files are generally quite small but can add up as well, especially if you have lots and lots of albums you want to keep with you everywhere.

WHO SHOULD GET 16GB

If you don't use a lot of apps, if you don't want to have a lot of movies and TV shows, or a huge amount of music, if you don't intend to shoot and keep very much 5 megapixel photos or 1080p video on your iPad, you'll probably be okay with 16GB.

Some people like to keep their iPads light and either stream or surf the web for content, and some people manage their photos and videos very well, transferring them to their computers regularly and reliably.

If you keep your iPad lean, you can probably save yourself some cash and get by on 16GB.

WHO SHOULD GET 32GB

If the iPad is your primary device, if you play games on it and watch movies and TV shows on it, if you have a decent sized music collection you want to keep with you, and if you shoot an average amount of photos and videos, 32GB is probably your sweet spot.

Some people like to have one device that, while it doesn't do everything all the time, is capable enough to do most things most of the time. As long as there's some extra space to give extra time to managing apps and content, it's a great compromise.

If you do a fair but not overwhelming amount of stuff on your iPad, your probably better off going for 32GB.

WHO SHOULD GET 64GB

If you're a power user who wants to keep as much as possible for as long as possible, if you have a large amount of apps and games, TV and movies, and a huge music collection you simply have to have with you all the time, or you shoot photos and video almost non stop and don't want to have to bother transferring it all the time we'll, you've probably already ordered a 64GB iPad and cursed Apple for not giving you a 128GB option!

Some people really do want their iPad to do everything, all of the time, and never (or rarely) have to worry about running out of space. If you really feel like you need it, you probably didn't need me to tell you so, and you've already decided you're getting 64GB. Enjoy!

WHAT IF YOU CHOOSE THE WRONG SIZE?

Remember, in most places you have time to try out your new iPad and return it if you don't like it. Make sure, as soon as possible, you put your new iPad to realistic use. Load up all the apps and games you want with you, load up your movies and TV shows, go out and take some photos and shoot some video. Give it a complete and thorough workout and see.

If it feels like you got too much storage, say 64GB and you haven't even gone past 2GB, or if you got too little, say you're already at 15GB of 16GB, then take your iPad back and exchange it for one that better suits your needs.

If you come to this realization too late, after the exchange period is over, remember you can buy additional iCloud storage, or look at other options like Dropbox which will let you keep your stuff available online and potentially free up some much needed space on your iPad.

ANY QUESTIONS?

If you've already decided which storage capacity is perfect for you, 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB, leave a comment and let me know!

If you're still not sure, if you want advice or more opinions, just ask!

Cell Phones New Cigarette

Cell Phones New Cigarette Cover We can't imagine our lives without cell phones!!!! Is there a person who can live without cell phones? Well, I don't know one such person. Even if you want to renounce to this device you can't because your professional life obliges you using it. How else could you possibly solve all your affairs if not thanks to these devices? There are persons who use to travel a lot so using one such device can help you contact all the persons you want to contact. No one can deny the advantages of using one such device but have you ever thought of all the disadvantages of using a cell phone? I must say I did, and I can say one thing: things don't look so good. I've recently read a newspaper article whose title article was: Cell Phones- New Cigarette!!!! One is impressed even from the start, when he reads the title of that particular article. But are these disadvantages of using a cell phone so serious to compare them with cigarettes? Of course they are, if they wouldn't be people wouldn't have compared them. So, what are these reasons which make us say: Cell Phones- New Cigarettes? One can say that cell phones are even more dangerous than cigarettes. The majority of the cell phone consumers are always on the road and they are obliged using these devices while they are driving. If you didn't know a person who uses the cell phone while he is driving has double chances of having a car accident. Its attention is distracted and the risk of having a car accident is even double. One can say that speaking on the phone can provoke one's death. So, be careful and don't use the cell phone while driving because one can never know what happens. We all know the risks of smoking, but do we really know all the risks of using cell phones? I don't think we are conscientious how dangerous it is using one such portable device. People sue them but they don't know all the dangers of using it. There were recently some rumors which said that cell phones can provoke brain cancer. This is without any doubt the most controversial subject which regards the cell phones. There are many contradictory opinions. Some specialists say that the radiations send by cell phones can provoke brain cancer and others who say this isn't possible. One can never know who one should believe. What we do know for sure is the fact that cell phones are dangerous and we should reduce the times we are going to speak on the phones. They can be really considerate the new cigarette if we take into consideration all these risks. But these reasons why should one consider cell phone the new cigarette are just a few, there are many other which make us say: Cell Phones- New Cigarettes.

Apple Worldwide Developers Conference

Apple Worldwide Developers Conference Image
I've watched the new iPad event twice now. They hit most of the notes most of us expected -- including the Retina display, LTE 4G networking, and iPhoto for iOS. The way in which they hit those notes, however, and some of the notes they didn't hit, were just as interesting and revealed as much about the new iPad as they did the new Apple.

This is a subset of a much longer, more involved, more interesting discussion I had with Georgia and AppCubby's David Barnard earlier tonight on iPhone & iPad Live. We'll post that show tomorrow, but here's the gist:

Tim Cook remains solid as an event anchor. He's measured, methodical, and supremely knowledgeable about Apple and their products. That sounds obvious, but many CEOs don't come off that way. He's an operations guy, not a product guy, but he's better than 99% of the keynote speakers out there, and if anyone knocks him it's only be he's taken over from the best keynote speaker in the history of the industry, the late Steve Jobs. That stage was owned by Jobs. He was infectiously engaging yet, at the same time, looked as though, at any moment, he could spin around and end you with a glare. That's an impossible act to follow. That Cook turned in a solid performance, that Phil Schiller remained affable and informative, that Eddy Cue brought a little bass, was not only commendable, but given the circumstances, phenomenal.

That Scott Forstall wasn't on stage was as notable as iOS not really being on stage. After the longest beta cycle that I can remember, iOS 5.1 was announced by Tim Cook as being available immediately. There was no GM (Gold Master) build for developers to test out, and apparently none needed since there were very few new, customer facing features. The original iPad release in 2010 had Forstall on stage showing off iOS 3.2 and the new iPad interface itself -- how the built in apps had been re-built to take advantage of a 1024768 9.7-inch display. With the iPad 2 in 2011 Forstall showed how iOS 4.2 unified the platform and brought everything from multitasking to folders to the iPad. With the new iPad this year, nothing. iOS was less keynote and more footnote. (No doubt iOS 6 will be the star of Apple's WWDC this summer.)

Same with the new Apple TV. It did get a new interface (which I'm not wild about -- more on that in the review), and a new model that is software-identical in every way with the exception of 1080p video support. However, the new Apple TV wasn't even announced as peripheral to the iPad, but as peripheral to the 1080p video. The original Apple TV got the full Steve Jobs treatment during the original iPhone keynote no less. The 2nd generation Apple TV got similar treatment during the 2010 iTunes and iPod event. This one got an "if you also want." That's going from "hobby" to "aside". Whether that's a sign the living room is still in a holding pattern for Apple, or it's the calm before an Apple television storm is hard to say.

Either way, it's more than the iPod touch got. The iPod touch now the only iOS device that hasn't received an update to the latest generation hardware specs, and the iOS device that's gone the longest ever without receiving an update -- since fall of 2010. Once positioned as a gaming platform, it briefly enjoyed a processor that out-clocked even the iPhone. Now two generations behind when it comes to internal architecture, stuck on the A4 to the iPhone 4S' A5 and the new iPad's A5X, it's hard to see where it fits in Apple's plans beyond "cheapest gateway to the App Store". Starting at 199, it's competitive with budget tablets, even if half the size, so maybe that's enough for now.

And yeah, Apple went with the A5X system-on-a-chip, which we heard would be quad-core but turned out to be dual core for the CPU and quad-core for the GPU. Apple stressed the quad-core and the GPU, and touted the graphics performance far more than the raw processing power, but the proc itself is dual. (At least that may explain the divergent rumors.)

Maintaining 10 hours of battery life with the denser, Retina display screen is impressive. Maintaining 9 hours of battery life with a 4G LTE radio is flabbergasting. Speaking of which, one 4G LTE model to support AT&T, Rogers, Bell, and Telus, and another to support Verizon, and no word on Asian, Australian, or European 4G LTE is likely to frustrate people outside North America. It's a hell of a radio, though, with HSPA+ 42mbps support as well, and the most bands ever according to Apple. That will no doubt make it tough for some to decide which network to go with.

Tethering is a huge plus as well.

Keeping the price point identical the iPad 2, given the sheer amount of new technology in the new iPad was most impressive. Those panels and those radios can't have lowered the bill of goods. Keeping the iPad 2 around at a 100 discount was just as impressive. It lowers the price differential between the cheapest iPad and the 299 budget tablets, and it makes the platform more accessible than ever to schools and Enterprise that don't need or don't want all the bells and whistles. For cash-strapped consumers, deciding between the 399 iPad 2 and 499 new iPad might be just as tough.

Glass shelves in iPhoto for iOS show skeumorphism is alive and well, perhaps more so than ever with all the faux brushes and other effects. It wasn't the more graceful Aperture-like experience I hoped for, and the user interface isn't as elegant as Apple achieved with GarageBand for iOS. It does complete the iLife package (iWeb and iDVD are dead, thank you very much), however, and pushes the iPad further into the content creation space.

It does Sherlock photo editing apps, but as Avid Studio showed against iMovie, there's still a lot of room for 3rd parties to show off. (Too bad Photoshop Touch didn't stick their landing.)

Siri didn't get any iPad user interface love at all. The idea of moving Siri over to the bigger iPad screen was a challenge to begin with. As Alex Heath postulated, they went with a subset -- voice dictation rather than something more ambitious or nothing at all. That eases one of my text entry pain point, but it means Reminders will remain an app I populate solely via Siri on the iPhone 4S.

While Apple has previously referred to "the new iPods", they didnt brand them as such, in giant Myriad letters.

Now the name. "The new iPad". The logic is sound -- it's not MacBook Air 3, after all, it's just MacBook Air. In theory it's cleaner and stronger branding. At least it would be if "The new" didn't squeak every time it turned around too fast. It's also a little awkward if a first time customer walks into a store and sees an "iPad 2 on the shelf next to an "iPad" and the "iPad 2 is the older, less-good-but-cheaper option. In a couple of generations, when the iPad 2 is a memory and it's been just "iPad" for years, it won't matter. But it does feel out of place right now. (And yes, Leanna predicted the next iPhone would be simply the "iPhone" so kudos to her for the concept, even if Apple beat her to the timeline.)

(Technically, like iPods and Macs, Apple refers to "the new iPad" as iPad (3rd generation) on product order and support pages, and it has an internal model number of iPad 3,x, so you can still be precise if you ever need to be.)

Phil Schiller was quoted rather broadly as saying the new name was a sign Apple didn't want to be predictable. That sounds like when the brilliant head chef has left the restaurant and the apprentices finally have direct access to the spice rack. It's no longer all saffron all the time, exactly the way they're told. There's more variety, more individuality, more nuance. Sometimes refreshingly so, sometimes head-scratchingly so. It may not always be as perfect, but it's even more exciting.

That rather neatly sums up both "the new iPad" and the new Apple.

Apple hasnt forgotten their roots -- they still bleed in six colors, theyre just more willing to mix it up now.
